New forum category?

  • Anyone else interested in having a new forum category for ‘trading’. I find this more profitable in the long run but would like to have an area that discusses this in more detail. Thoughts please?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Yes. I’m in…been doing horse racing (which bores me) but there’s money in it. I could go on but I’ll wait for some interest.

Well I can tell you for sure that football has been the most profitable for me. Having done both football and horses, I am over £2k up in 2 weeks!!!!! I just need ideas in progression…

Do you use specific software to trade through betfair?

Any chance you could just outline how trading works? Is it backing a selection and hoping the odds drop to cash out for profit? Cheers

I have not chosen any software as I could not find any for iPads.

My favourite strategy at the moment is to lay the favourite (odds between 1.6 and 2). There have been lots of loosing favourites in the last month. If the favourite scores early on in the game, I cash out at a loss, otherwise I lay for profit.

I would love this too to be honest. After being gubbed by most companies now I would like to slowly get into trading.

I started trading as you do not need to be tied to the offers, t&c’s, game times etc… It’s also (in hindsight) far easier and more profitable than match betting. Anyone know how we get Matts attention to this thread to see if he will add to the forum?

Great idea PaulMc, I’ve been turning my attention more and more to it too. The macthedbetting has been great for building the bankroll, now it’s there to use on something else.

Can you exaplin your strategy system on laying the faves in footie there more a bit Paul?
How long do you wait in the match before trading out?
Are you greening up or cashing out for a profit?
How much do you aim to win per trade and what’s the liability you risk for each?

Might give that a go myself today. sounds good and haven’t tried it myself before

    Hi Dan,

I try to keep things simple, as I am new to trading too. I place my lay bet on the favourite ( odds between 1.6 and 2). Then my strategy is formed around backing a bet in-play (way above the current odds) and wait for it to be matched. If the game goes “against you” you can either cash out for a small loss or have an unmatched bet in place, ready as a “stop loss”, again for a small loss – this helps if you cannot be with your computer at the time.

Honestly, I think the software available is only good if you want to trade for a living.

    Good luck Dan

    Guys,

Try trading with Cardiff (lay Cardiff) and Sheffield Wed (lay Sheffield) pre match. Setup some insurance (or stop loss).

I only have limited internet today, so I will have to miss these ones, but good luck. If you do these, please let me know how you get on, but remember, this is not guaranteed profit…

Nice one Paul, just out of curiosity what stakes are you playing per trade or how much do you aim to make per trade with your strategy?
What minute do you look to cash out at?

How much you trade with is up to you, I normally trade with 5% of my bankroll (£100 at the moment) and aim for make at least £8 back, but it does depend on how the game pans out, and that comes down (mostly) to my own instincts.

    The £100 I devide into 3 (approximately)

    £33 lay
£34 insurance (back bet, that should remain unlatch unless things go against you)
£33 contingency (if it is clear what direction the match is taking you can use this to cover any losses)

At the end of the day your style of trade is entirely up to you, but my best advice is to keep it simple.

Paulmc_mb. It sounds good. But talking about numbers like 2k seems risky to me for beginner. You say you been at it 2 weeks.

Glad you made money but I would guess that you can lose 2k or more just as quickly as you made it.

Fog_blog, I think you’re right, I have had some luck with the more riskier strategies…
