New forum category?

  • Anyone else interested in having a new forum category for ‘trading’. I find this more profitable in the long run but would like to have an area that discusses this in more detail. Thoughts please?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Played a few games last night again Paul and pocketed profits. The thing is that I’m not minimising the loses so I know I can improve the profits more if I sit down during the games and trade proper.

Ryan he is basically just betting but it’s trading because he’s greening up, cashing out, hedging or just looking to lock in a set target profit. It is gambling really. Not risk free.

Always willing to give something a shot Paul, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with a few things in the past which generate wee incomes for me now. Wanting to build up a sample size of at least 1,000 games before passing any judgement on this. Even 1,000 games isn’t much in the scheme of things but it’d be a good starting point. Match selection seems key in this too.

Best of luck Dan. Having looked at the stats for tonight I am struggling to lay on a losing fav team. So I think I will look at goal stats… should be plenty tonight 🙂

Dan, What do you think about laying the Liverpool v Everton game for over 2.5 total goals? If a goal is not scored before 20 mins, after that we are in profit (until a goal is scored). Our options are:

    1) Cross our fingers for 20 mins – cash out regardless (green up)
    2) Sit and watch… if a goal looks likely, green up
    3) Sit it out (hardcore stylee)…

Stayed away from things last night Paul, looks like it was wise, a lot of faves won last night and scored early too.

Last night was hard work mate. I ended up in the red, but not by much. I have been trying to trade horses today – now that is tough!! Will let you know if I find any firm(ish) methods, but I guess that this is where the software comes into it’s own.

    Hi Dan,

Well, got a bit confident this week and my stakes were considerably higher than I would suggest, but my profits are enough to book us (me, the wife, and kids) on an all inclusive break in Portugal over the summer, and still have enough to “trade” with 🙂

From what i have picked up, the strategy you are talking about is somewhere between gambling and trading. Trading usually refers to taking advantage of the swinging odds shortly before a horse race begins. If you watch the markets things go mental about 5 mins before the off and some guys have got pretty good at reading what the market is going to do. Its basically like trading shares over a very very short period. Thing is, you are up against hundreds of others using the same tools and trying the same tactics, so it basically becomes a case of trading prices with other traders. I had a little dabble at this but was way out of my league.

Your strategy, on the other hand, does not predict what other traders are going to do over the short term. It tries to predict the way a match will be played out and takes a profit from drifting odds if the game goes well. So it sounds like well informed gambling with a sensible stop loss and trade out strategy. Does that make sense?

Anyway congrats on the profit. Hope it keeps going well.
