Questions from a newbie.

  • New to matched betting (1 1/2 weeks) have a few of questions for you kind helpful people.

1.I have made £150 so far, obviously I am made up with this as 2 weeks ago I had no idea this was possible. However, most of my profit has come from sign up offers. Alongside this I have taken advantage of existing customer offers and arbs etc. but the profit from these to sing ups is minimal. So, once I have used all the sign offers where does my £500 a week come from?

    2. Is it worth joining oddsmonkey to get the daily existing customer offers tr will checking this website give me the same info.?

    3. I oubviously want to avoid gubbing. There seems to be a difference in opinion on wether mug betting helps or not. What’s your opinion? If I do mug bet how long after (or how many bets/profit after) should I place a mug bet and on what frequency?

Thanks in advance for all your advice.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    1. I am not doing sign up offers any more. Restricted to Bet365 offers and a few more from smaller bookies. Takes a lot of work to keep the profits going, can’t really afford to miss any offer or any race.

Take Bet365 for example. 2 races per day and 8 more on saturday = 22 races per week. Or about 88+ per month more if a big festival is on. Each race is worth £4 or £5 at least. So that is £352 profit there at least and probably more especially if there are big festivals on. They also offered an existing customer deposit bonus and a bet 50 get 50 football offer this month which together was worth about £140. Then they throw in a loyalty bonus that is worth £15 per month for me usually. Then every weekend they have Extra place races which if you are lucky to hit the extra place could be worth another £100 or so… All in all you can see about £500 profit there per month but as you can see you cannot really afford to miss any race if you want to maintain that.

Then add in regular boosts from Sky and Boylesports and Paddy. Then add in the other regular offers esp the paddy power money back football offers (can guarantee at least £10 to £15 per week on these, which you can multiply up by getting around to do them in shop too). Actually just have a look at Matt’s profit log https://matchedbettingblog.com/matched-betting-profit-log/. These don’t include sign up offers or horse racing offers and still totalling a few hundred every month.

Profit log profit per month so far this year. Of course this will be reduced as you lose accounts. For example if I take out the bookies that don’t offer me offers any more the 500 profit in August is reduced to 100.

    2. I haven’t joined oddsmonkey yet. It is probably worth joining for their odds matching service, something you don’t get on here. But with horses odds are changing so quick close to the off that you are better just opening two windows and comparing. But I think its worth it in general for getting best extraction from free bets. Just I never have – I am probably losing £15 per month by not getting optimal free bet extraction. Mneh.

    3. I don’t believe in mug betting. I haven’t kept a lot of accounts. The one that I have kept long than others is Bet365. I don’t mug bet on it. B365 is more tolerant than other bookies. But I also think what has helped me is that my qualifying bets and free bets are all on horses about 4/1 to 6/1. It shows a pattern of a betting that would blend in with a mug bettor that’s quite conservative. If my qualifying bets were all 4/1 and my free bets were all 10/1+ for max extraction then I think it would stand out more as a matched bettor account.

Thanks for a really great in depth response. I haven’t joined bet 365 yet, clearly it needs to be next on my list. How are the horse races on there making you a profit?

Don’t rush into Bet365, they have a great welcome offer but it needs a decent big float. Save it.

Look at the profit log, the bookies that come up all the time are Paddy Power, Sky Bet, Betbright. These all have simple sign up bonus’s. I would start on those and will keep you going.

There is lots written about the 4/1+ offer.

Cheers, Pure coincidence but I am with those 3 bookies. What’s the 4/1+ offer?

4/1+ offer has been talked to death – for example https://matchedbettingblog.com/topic/bet365-c4-offer-2/#.V77eYJgrLIU. If you did a search you would probably find 100 other threads on the topic.

I probably talk about it too much as its one of the few offers/bookies I’m still eligible for. You will find lots of offers though on paddy and sky to keep you going.

Like yourself, I,ve only been doing this a few months. Dtarted with 365 soccer now moving to horses.

Luckily I have lots of time during day upto 7pm so can look at odds closely, but even so I’ve reduced the number of accounts I opened.

    Left with
365 – working through bonus and do the in-play £50 refund. Just started on C4 and Feature races
    BetFred – second place FB
Paddy – some good MBS (losing at HT)
    Sky – £5/week FB + boosts
888sport – Birmingham goals for FB

If the guys post a simple boost I usually go for it too

The guys on here are really helpful and patient with us newbies. Thanks alot
