Unmatched bet

  • So, I’ve got an unmatched bet, on pivoine for the 1610 Newbury, I originally backed at 9.5, £25, and partially laid at 8.2, a stake of £7.62 has been matched, on time form it’s one of the favourites so I fully expected in time it would be matched…currently I have £21.52 unmatched…with the current lay odds at 14…what should I do?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Go to the trickybet website and use their calculator which allows you to enter part-matched stakes at different odds.

Race still 2 hours away mind… plenty time for those lay odds to shorten (or go further out I suppose!)

Oddschecker shows its drifting, most bookies at 12 but one at 13.
Correct trading strategy would be to get what you can now cutting your losses. Although it depends what you are trying to achieve, why you backed it etc. You could hope it comes back in, or even try and lay some in the running.

Backed it originally for the 2 clear thing, fully expected the odds to match over time as it was one of the top 3 on time form at 4 stars! Should I wait until nearer the race and then use the part lay calculator, but use the sp odds as my original back odds as I’ll get best odds guaranteed should it win? That way I’ll reduce my qualifying loss loads?

Sorry only just logged in again. How did u get on?
Always an iffy one when the price is drifting as can reverse or keep going. I’ve found when the price is shortening you may have 1 bookie propping up the exchange price, but when that goes it will often come in.

i waited until the last minute before the race and then could see the lay odds were 13.5 and the william hill “back odds” were 11. I was pretty certain they wouldn’t go down quickly so used 11 as my new back odds for the calculator (as william hill would have paid out at 11 due to best odds guarenteed) and inputted all the relevant figures into the part lay calculator. Managed to limit my qualifying loss to £2.17 which is significantly better than it could have been! Thanks for the help anyway!
