Using free bets offered in the form of multiple tokens

  • Hi,

Matt’s free bet guide, using the example of Ladbrokes, doesn’t pick up on what is the best strategy when dealing with free bets which are provided as multiple tokens, e.g. £20 as two £10’s or four £5’s. I did search, but couldn’t find a relevant thread, hence starting this one.

I have encountered two of these so far after successful qualifying bets and as these were amongst my first batch of sign up offers (where it is taking me a while to identify the right markets to bet on), I placed them all on the same market on either a premiership or live match (or both) thereby totalling a £20 bet, which I then layed in one go in the exchange.

I have seen two other online guides to sign up offers that run through free bet examples using tokens and state to lump them all on the same bet, but I read on another forum that it would be safer to place the free bet components on separate markets, as this would look less suspicious to the bookmaker.

Is this a big problem for the two sign ups that I have already completed? £20 doesn’t seem like a huge amount to place on a single outcome that would set of alarm bells. I guess I could follow up with some mug bets with £20 stakes, which would demonstrate that a £20 bet on a single outcome is not out of kilter with my usual betting pattern.

The next time I come across this with sign up free bets, I think the total is going to be £30, so I am thinking that splitting them up may be more important as the free bet total gets higher.

As ever I am grateful for any advice.

    Cheers,
    TE

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I don’t think it matters all that much, but check the T+Cs to make sure you are using the freebies in the right place eg in-play ( I think some bookies make you use them on multiples etc)
One point of view would be that betting twice reinforces your opinion of the outcome, but who knows how the bookies see it.
Betting on opposing outcomes – eg team A to win then team B to win, or dutching with over/under goals etc would be a no-no though.

I’ve never understood why paddy gives you two £5 instead of one £10 to use in-play other than to slow down the placing of bets. if you was a “mug” you wouldn’t really place lots of different bets on different outcomes would you? I don’t know, I was never really a mug.

    Thanks,

I guess by itself it wouldn’t be enough to get flagged, but could be a factor if other good matching/mugging practice wasn’t being followed.

I am on the case with avoiding opposing outcomes and this whole dutching business.
