Qualifying Bet:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
It’s entirely up to you what you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Chelsea in the FT 1X2 market.
At the time of writing, laying our bet at Betfair gives us the smallest qualifying loss.
Betfair are currently offering new customers 0% commission up to £500 for the first 30 days.
If you’re an existing Betfair customer, you can opt in to pay just 2% commission by selecting their Basic reward plan.
For more information about My Betfair Rewards and how to opt in, please see my Betfair 2% Commission page.
We can calculate our lay stakes using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.71…
Place £10.00 on Chelsea @ 2.00 = Potential profit of £10.00
Lay £9.71 on Chelsea @ 2.08 = Potential liability of £10.48
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Chelsea win | +£10.00 | -£10.48 | £0.48 loss |
Chelsea don’t win | -£10.00 | +£9.51 | £0.49 loss |
So, regardless of the outcome, we’ll lose a maximum of £0.49 in qualifying for our potential free bet.
Free Bet:
We’ll receive a £5.00 free bet if Tammy Abraham or Anthony Martial scores during the game.
Once our qualifying bet has settled, a pop-up window will appear within 24 hours for us to collect our £5.00 free bet. Free bets must be accepted within 7 days of the notification and will be valid on any sportsbook market for 7 days.
By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 80% cash from our £5.00 free bet, so £4.00. If we take into account our maximum qualifying loss of £0.49, this gives us a potential profit of £3.51 on this Virgin Bet offer!
* Anthony Martial scored in a 2-0 win to Man Utd, resulting in a profit of £3.51 on this Virgin Bet offer. *

Guest user6. If neither Tammy Abraham nor Anthony Martial play any part in the match, all Qualifying Bets placed will stand, however this promotion will be deemed void and no Free Bet Token/s will be awarded.
Does it mean it is now void with no Tammy Abraham playing or on the bench?
dino
Guest userNo, they’re just saying if neither player plays at all, i.e. there’s zero chance of the free bet anyway.
Basically it’s just reiterating that if the players don’t play they wont score and therefore no-one gets free bets, but you cant rescind your qualifying bet because of that.

Guest userSweet, glad I did this on 3 accounts lol.
