There’s a big Tuesday night of Champions League football to look forward to and you don’t want to miss this Paddy Power price boost! They’ve enhanced Liverpool and Barcelona both to win from 10/3 to a rather nice 5/1. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a risk-free potential profit of £18.36 and here’s how…

We can calculate our underlay stake using my Matched Betting Calculator. We just need to open up the ‘ADVANCED’ section and click the ‘Underlay’ tab…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £20.41…
Place £20.00 on Liverpool & Barcelona both to win @ 6.00 = Potential profit of £100.00
Lay £20.41 on Barcelona & Liverpool Both To Win @ 5.00 = Potential liability of £81.64
Outcomes
Let’s have a look at our profit/loss for the two potential outcomes…
So, if our double loses, we’ll break even and there’s no harm done. However, if our double wins, we’ll make a nice risk-free profit of £18.36 on this Paddy Power price boost!
Note: If you would prefer to lock in a smaller profit, you can simply use the ‘Standard‘ tab on the calculator for a guaranteed profit of £3.60.
* Liverpool beat RB Leipzig 2-0, but Barcelona lost 4-1 to PSG, resulting in break even on this Paddy Power price boost. *

Guest userHi Matt,
Just looking In The specials at betfair and Liverpool/Barcelona seems to be available to lay at 4.8. Could you check that I’ve got this right, please? (For those who keep their main float in betfair) Thanks
Matt
1529Yes that’s correct Michael, though it’s always best to avoid laying Paddy Power bets at Betfair as both brands are owned by the same group. Doing so may draw unwanted attention to your Paddy Power account.

Guest userHey Matt,
Quick update: I just checked this out with the help chat at betfair. And I asked him about three times, and each time, he insisted that to successfully lay the Barca/Liverpool selection, both teams had to not win. In other words, if you put your money on the lay and 9ne of them wins, you lose your liability!
This didn’t sound right, but not taken any chances and reflecting on your advice about the PP/betfair connection I’ve laid at smarkets (who confirmed any non-win for either teams means your lay bet wins).
Thanks for such a quick response. You’re the man.
Matt
1529I think this is yet another instance of live chat being misinformed Michael. Unfortunately, you just can’t rely on information they provide. If either team fails to win, your lay bet would win.

1529Nicely done Steve.
