Multi account set up

  • Fine folks of t’interweb. I’d greatly appreciate some advice.

After getting into MBing in February I managed to clear about £6k. With all I’ve learned on here I’d now say I’m at a reasonable standard where with unrestricted accounts I’m confident I could reach £2k a month profit. However, in the process of learning and making mistakes I have slowly had all my accounts gubbed and restricted. I’ve taken some out in the wifes name but they’ve been quickly gubbed too, despite a different IP address, presumably because of the same home address.

So, I’ve got a list of trusted friends and family who have no interest in betting, so don’t mind eventually getting gubbed, and have agreed to let me set up accounts in their name and they get a % cut. I don’t see this strictly breaks the rules although I’m sure the bookies would say different! What I won’t do is blatantly commit fraud by creating accounts in fake names. What are peoples thoughts on this?

    So here is my plan:
    1) Give my friend some cash to put into their accounts with their own bank cards.
    2) Get a VPN and bet on their behalf
    3) Get them to submit their own ID to the bookies for eventual withdrawals.
    4) Manage withdrawals as the need occurs (hence, I’ll only use trusted friends).

What are the flaws with this please? I know sod all about tech. I understand I need to get a VPN, but do I also need a new device for each account (ie a cheap laptop etc) so they can’t link accounts via computer ID?

I’d be grateful for your thoughts…. Ta.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Interesting post.

I have just started doing this for a friend, I use a tablet with 4g (that has never been used to access my own accounts). I don’t really understand the technical aspect of it so I’m waiting to see how long the accounts last. I use my own betfair account for the lays.

What percentage are you giving them? My friend haggled me to 25%, which I think is quite generous considering all he has to do is a little admin at the beginning! If it works ok then I have a few other people I trust enough to do it for. I’m thinking of getting a new tablet for each one and maybe a new 4g contract each time, perhaps that’s overkill and pointless..

    Good luck.

Prefer having them set up a bank account, i have card and access. Saves alot of hassle and confusion with money going in and out.

What tablet and 4G do you use Crispy? I was hoping that a VPN would be sufficient to prevent me having to buy and run loads of tablets…

Over complicating it for me lads.

Get each patsy to set up a PayPal account and then you can simply fund “their” accounts by transferring money from your PayPal to theirs. At some pint they will have to verify their ID with PayPal (usually once they’ve received about £2k, which will happen quicker than you think what with money going back and forth all the time) but that should be fine if they are in cahoots with you on the whole endeavour.

Re different tablets/devices, I thought that would be a must when I started doing this but you will find that so long as you are not using the same wifi as your own gubbed accounts then you can get away with using the same device. For me that’s my phone as I do so much of my MBing on the move. You might experience more problems if you are using a computer or laptop mind, as I think it is easier for them to track your movements via cookies etc…

In terms of what % to “pay” them, I went with a fixed monthly amount as it would kill me to hand over a high % (like 25%!) when I have broken my balls to do well for “us”. There is also the matter of evidencing your monthly takings if it’s a % deal. Remind them they are getting paid for doing literally nothing! £100 per month should satisfy most people.

    Good luck

Interesting Tony – thanks. The PayPal idea is a good shout. Getting them to set up another bank account is a lot to ask from someone who may be a little uncomfortable with the idea. Several of my mates are cagey even tho there’s zero risk to them – they just can’t get their heads around MB!

Can you have more than one PayPal account though? I’d say most people have their own PayPal so would a second account not be allowed?

Getting a second phone for MB is a good idea. I could buy a cheap sim with enough data and a second hand phone perhaps? So you reckon if I use the phone on 4G I can use it for multiple accounts?

    Cheers!

I’ve suggested 1/3 of the money Tony mates!!!!! Perhaps I need to reevaluate! My parents will do it with zero commission for me so I’ll use them as a Guinea pig…

You can’t have more than one PP account no, so that could be a problem if any of your patsys actually use their’s regularly. Not insurmountable as it is clear where the money has come from and is going to (its all in a statement just like a bank account) but ideally YOU want complete control over said PP account. That way you can just leave money sloshing around in there as and when suits and you can deposit quickly when you spot a nice arb or offer on an bookie site that you have no balance with at that moment.

It is a bit much asking people to set up new bank accounts imo and to have endless transactions with gambling companies and bookies, but I guess that depends on who your patsy is and what they are comfortable with.

Re the phone, yes, in my experience you can run several accounts off the same handset provided you stick to 3/4G. I would avoid using bookie apps for more than one account, just load up their mobile site in a browser instead for the 2nd, 3rd… accounts.

What you agree to pay them is obviously your business but there is absolutely no way I would giving up 1/3! Sure, sometimes having 3 accounts is a big help (e.g. when targeting a horse to come 2nd) but it still requires a lot of work on your part and they are still doing precisely feck all for their monthly retainer 😉

If you end up with an arrangement where they can ‘see’ the money pot (be that a bank account or PP) then I would also be sure to advise them that just because they ‘see’ £400 going in (from bookie withdrawal perhaps) that does NOT represent profit, as you will likely have “lost” nearly as much on that trade/bet at the exchange.

Finally, keep good records. Really good ones. My OCD forces me to record every bet I place in great detail, but it is really helpful when reviewing where the money is being earned and would be imperative if I was operating on a % fee basis.

I was mulling over whether to offer 20% or 25%, I decided on 20% but then my friend haggled for 25% so I let him have it. He could do with the cash anyway so it makes me feel a little bit like I’m Robin Hood..

Beaser – I went for a Galaxy A1 Tablet (based on zero research), it works fine although it’s more fiddly than using my laptop (maybe I’m still getting used to it).

Went for an EE 4g contract (again zero research) because they had some special on when I was looking!

It sounds obvious but the biggest mistake I made was not making sure my friend had an acceptable proof of address ready. I thought that bookmakers normally only requested it on a withdrawal but no, B365 asked for it straight away. He didn’t have anything suitable and so I sent him off to his bank today to try and get something but alas, they wouldn’t do it in branch for some reason so I’ll have to wait another (up to) 7 days for it to be posted.

Oh and I use the paypal method too..

Ps. If any of Tony’s Patsies are reading this….25% guys!! PM me 😉

    Haha, like it ?

Great point re ID as well… before you begin, get a scanned colour copy of their passport or drivers license (front AND back) along with 2 utility bills that prove their address. It will save you time later scurrying around for them.

Also best to note down some key info that you will need when setting up patsy accounts, stuff like mother’s maiden name, street grew up on, etc… that you often need for security questions.

25%?! You are a generous guy Mr Crispy… you’ll never get rich that way ?

Hi beaser exact same position as me…. ive exhausted all mine and mrs accounts after making around £14k (including sharbing and ew arbing while i have last scraps of gubbed accounts)
a few points… i think people look too deeply into the buy new device etc… like Chris says i did all mine from same mobile using 4g… at 1 point was doing 4 b365 accounts from same phone with no hassle… i did get careless and use on wifi at home logging in and out of accounts and this could have led to some gubbings but not 100%… as long as us use you data should be ok??

Any of you guys tried a prepaid debit card in your friends name… but you have complete access to it…that way no banks etc getting involved you just load money onto their card and withdraw back to it like you would normally and can either transfer back to you bank or withdraw in cash!!

25% is a crazy amount to give away…. a £200 initial payment for them to send a pic of passport and proof of address and hand over prepaid debit card should be more than enough!!

    Good luck guys!

Been thinking about doing this for my sister. Only problem is she lives in a different part of the country, and I’m concerned that bookies might be able to tell via an IP address (whether 4G or not) that all the betting is coming from somewhere far from where she lives. Anyone had any experience with this before?

Yes… my mates address was Scotland and i was in manchester using his account… it doesnt matter how do they know she doesnt work away from home etc… just as long as its a valid person with valid address and payment method tgere is nothing they can do!

Now I don’t work for a bookie and don’t know for sure what they record when you log onto their sites, but I work in IT and I know how IP addresses work and what a web browser has access to regarding the device your using.

What I would say is that there’s no way a bookie knows where you live from your home broadband’s IP address – they would need a court order/direct access to the broadband provider to get such information. The most they could glean from any one IP is the broadband provider’s name, eg: BT, Sky etc.

A bookie cannot record your MAC address (the number that uniquely identifies the device your using) using a standard browser such as Chrome, IE etc. An app on your phone on the other hand would be able to given the right permissions, so I would avoid using them – just use the mobile website. So I would say using the same device for multiple accounts from that point of view is fine, just ensure your IP address is different for each account you use, using a VPN.

The great thing about using your mobile via 3G/4G to bet is that the IP address is changing all the time. A network carrier has a certain range of IPs to assign to devices that connect and there’s a good chance that you’ll be given a different one every time you toggle your data off and on. You can easily check your phone’s IP with plenty of apps. Same actually goes for your home broadband – its amazing how often your ISP will change your IP address. Some will even change it for you if you request it.

I believe that bookies are particularly anal about IP address checking with their opening offers. However after that I don’t believe they’re as stringent. You’ve got to remember that if, for example, you place a bet at work, and that place of work employs several thousand people, then there’s a good chance that every bet made by people who work there will have the same IP address recorded against that bet. I don’t think its practical for bookies to start gubbing on normal bets purely on IP addresses apart from, as I say, their opening offers where they tend to offer the most value.

Anyway, time to stop rambling. Better get some work done! Hope you find this information useful!

Thanks chaps, really useful stuff here. To avoid confusion I’ll get a SIM only contract to do all my multi-accounting from and only use it on 4G.

For what it’s worth this is what I’ve done for family

Same device but different browsers – one for each person, chrome, firefox, chromium, ie

Regularly reboot broadband router. My isp resets my ip address everytime I reboot.
To check just type “what is my ip” into google before and after a reboot.

Money done via an internet current account. I apply and set all the details of the account using thier address. They provide the proof and the debit card when it arrives. – This also provides one form of ID for the bookies. This means that I have complete control and can transfer money bank a/c to bank a/c when funds run low and everything ends up in the lay a/c.

I’ve thought about multiple lay accounts but my head hurts!

I’ve also got spreadsheets galore of names and bookies used.

I also try to login to all accounts once a month especially when there are no offers and place a mug punt. I also get the odd surprise when I’ve lost track of a few quid. It’s like finding a tenner in your wallet 🙂
