Multi account set up

  • Fine folks of t’interweb. I’d greatly appreciate some advice.

After getting into MBing in February I managed to clear about £6k. With all I’ve learned on here I’d now say I’m at a reasonable standard where with unrestricted accounts I’m confident I could reach £2k a month profit. However, in the process of learning and making mistakes I have slowly had all my accounts gubbed and restricted. I’ve taken some out in the wifes name but they’ve been quickly gubbed too, despite a different IP address, presumably because of the same home address.

So, I’ve got a list of trusted friends and family who have no interest in betting, so don’t mind eventually getting gubbed, and have agreed to let me set up accounts in their name and they get a % cut. I don’t see this strictly breaks the rules although I’m sure the bookies would say different! What I won’t do is blatantly commit fraud by creating accounts in fake names. What are peoples thoughts on this?

    So here is my plan:
    1) Give my friend some cash to put into their accounts with their own bank cards.
    2) Get a VPN and bet on their behalf
    3) Get them to submit their own ID to the bookies for eventual withdrawals.
    4) Manage withdrawals as the need occurs (hence, I’ll only use trusted friends).

What are the flaws with this please? I know sod all about tech. I understand I need to get a VPN, but do I also need a new device for each account (ie a cheap laptop etc) so they can’t link accounts via computer ID?

I’d be grateful for your thoughts…. Ta.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Hi
Wondered if anyone had experience of prepaid cards, thinking of setting up a friend with one?
Been looking at UAccount, or maybe Pockit but read people have problems with the latter.
    Thanks

    Hi guy999,

I use Uaccount and it’s very good. problems I faced so far can’t withdraw from skybet and betclic to u card, not sure about other bookies because I use paypal everywhere I can. Just like somebody mentioned before uaccount do not like if you use account just for betting so use it sometimes for everyday shopping in supermarket or for petrol and you should be ok.

Thanks, guess you go for the full £10 per month.
    Was it easy to open?

It was very easy to open it’s prepaid card so no credit checks.

I did go for £0 per month I prefer to pay £1 every time I transfer money to another account or take money from cash machine. I don’t think I do it more than 10 times per month but even if I do I think (although it’s only my opinion and I might be wrong 😀 ) uaccount will like my account more and I will have less chance of them closing it 😀

Thanks, guess I’m thinking of the funding of the many new bookmaker offers how much this could cost. But guessing once setup, generally only use less than a dozen or so, over the month.

Funding bookmakers doesn’t cost anything. £1cost for me transfer between bank accounts to barclays for example.sorry if I didn’t make ot clear

No thanks its me looking at the website, says -Payments out/Direct Debits £1 if £0 monthly cost’
So I’m thinking everytime you use to buy something/ deposit into bookmakers account costs £1??

Whereas with £10pm no extra charges?

Hi guys. Been multi accounting for a few close friends/family recently. Got about 4 phones on the go with giff gaff contracts. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for optimal debit cards? Ideally one with an easy setup and one that can be used at all/almost all bookies. Thanks for any help. Willing to answer any questions.

Also wondered if anyone was able to clarify any tax repercussions that doing this would involve. As far as i’m aware all earnings are via betting and so it isnt classed as a taxable activity? Does this change when youre betting on behalf of someone else? Or can this be fobbed off as a gift?

    Guy999,

Payments out will be transfers to another bank account or taking money from cash machine.
If you use U card to buy online or in shop as well as depositing into bookies there is no charge.

    dbutterworth1994,

    Your questions on tax…

In my opinion, your profit from matched betting on an account in someone else’s name is taxable. Effectively, they are paying you a commission to bet on their behalf. HMRC would definitely be happy to take the tax from you (and National Insurance too!)..

I can’t imagine many people are declaring anything though! And unless you’re earning a hell of a lot, HMRC probably won’t be interested in you.

What I think is interesting is if you’re betting for someone else but using your own exchange. Say in a month your friend’s bookmaker accounts are up £1,500 and your exchange is down £1,000, so an overall profit of £500. You give your friend 20% of the profit (£100) and transfer the other £1,400 to your own account. Logically, your commission is £400 right?! Or… is it £1,400 (with your £1,000 loss being a non tax deductable gambling loss). It wouldn’t surprise me if HMRC would argue it’s £1,400… that’s purely hypothetical though (hopefully).

Could it not be perceived as a gift though? Could been interpreted as someone giving me a gift for teaching them how to matched bet?

Are you teaching them how to matched bet or are you betting on their behalf?

If you teach them how to matched bet and they give you a few quid after, then I’d say that could be interpreted as a gift..

If you’re betting on their behalf over several weeks/months with an agreed split of the profits then no, in my opinion it couldn’t be interpreted as a gift.

    Stcross.
Thanks for clearing that up, have applied and topped up, just waiting for card now.

dbutterworth1994, guess could be deemed that you are carrying out a service for reward so potentially taxable? A gift might be a one off, or twice a year xmas/bday thing. anything more frequent might not be.

I have a question about multi-accounting abroad. I’m already set up and it is working out fine in UK. I want to go to Asia for a month and take my devices and match bet from there multi-accounting, on some occasions. I have no clue how thorough the bookies’ systems are for detecting similar patterns .. but if I suddenly switch to VPN on all 3 accounts at roughly the same time will it look suspicious? Perhaps together with other betting patterns I have already unknowingly generated, it might just be enough to ring alarm bells? Otherwise i will just take one device/account set with me to be on the safe side.

    Hi
I started to use a VPN, when my 3G 12gb sim card ran out again. I generally use W10 machines and seem to eat data with various updates. No problems. Except when opening new accounts, can flag up as a banned country even though picking London, get automatic ‘suspended…call customer services’….

Intention is to use a laptop only, using VBOX which i have versions of windows on.

Not sure what devices you use, but when in Spain recently the BF Exchange APP on my iphone changed my language to Spanish so knew where i was and wouldnt automatically change back. Assume the app uses phone gps location as well?
