  It’s a nice offer Tom. It’ll be on for 12 games minimum and I can’t see us not getting a few draws in the group stages. If we can keep our qualifying losses to a minimum, we should make a nice profit. I’ll be blogging these nearer the time.

      It’ll be a case of back and laying an outcome that doesn’t see the game ending in a draw. If the game is drawn, we’ll make a nice profit. Depending on what odds we are able to get, we may be able to place an additional lay bet on the draw to lock in a profit.

Bet 365 also have a ko on penalties offer which, interestingly, will continue to run after the tournament has started.

Hi Matt
I’ve started backing a few of these offers, which are good, but I’m going to have a lot of money tied up in the exchange for over 2 weeks. Do you think there will be lots of offers for individual matches which will be profitable? If there will be I’m going to have save a bit and do offers that allow me to make a bit in a couple of days. What are your thoughts?

  Yes I’m hopeful that the bookies will be running a fair few promotions throughout the tournament mate. They should certainly get behind the England games and with Rep. of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales all involved too, it should be a very profitable tournament. It would be a shame to have your funds tied up and miss out.

I should also have remembered that if you bet on the same market you don’t need the same liability so for many bets you won’t need much more in the exchange, but I would still value your opinion on what might be available when the comp starts.

    Hi, could you please explain in more detail this thing about the liability when betting on the same market? Example: if I bet on several different countries as Euro winners on different betting pages, how should I put my Lay bets on the exchange Smarkets?

      Hi Emin. Say for example, you lay £100 on France at odds of 4.50, £100 on Germany at odds of 5.50 and £100 on Spain at odds of 6.50… Your individual liabilities would be £350, £450 and £550 respectively. Ordinarily, you would think your overall liability is the sum of those three individual liabilities (£1,350), but that’s not the case. Only one team can win the tournament, so the most you can lose at Smarkets is the £550 if Spain win. If Spain win, you will lose £550 on your Spain lay bet, but you’ll win the £100 stakes that you placed on France and Germany, giving you an overall maximum liability of £350. Hope that helps.

      Hi Matt. In your above example, what exactly would you lay? it would jsut be the spain lay as they are the highest odds right? and you would lay it for 100 at 6.5, right? thanks in advance!

      Those odds and stakes are just an example Geoff. You don’t need to do anything fancy with your lay bets. If you’re backing France at a bookie, you would lay France as normal. Then if you did another offer with another bookie and backed Germany, you would lay Germany as normal.

Hi Matt – with the ‘Refund if KO’d on penalties’ offers, will we be able to guarantee a profit assuming the teams we pick advance beyond the group stage? I was thinking along the lines of laying ‘X to lose on penalties’ for each game after the group stages involving one of our picks, but I don’t know whether Betfair will offer this market.

  This offer will run throughout the tournament, right up until the Final kicks off on Sunday July 2016. Therefore, if you are looking to place an extra lay bet on ‘X to lose on penalties’ to lock in a profit, it would make sense to place your qualifying bets once the group stages have ended. I’m sure Betfair will offer that market once we get to the knockout stages.

How do you think the best way to play the BWIN offer is? Refund if Russia win against England. If it’s a draw no refund though. Anyway to lock in the profit? I can’t seem to find a way.

Matt do you think the lay odds for the top scorer market will come in before the tournament starts, and if not do you think the offers are worth doing?

  They’ll probably fluctuate between now and the tournament starting, so the best thing to do is keep an eye on things and if you find a close match, get it on.

Sorry Matt, I know this isn’t entirely related but did you just get the £10 risk free bet in casino from Ladbrokes? Refund up to £10 of your losses? Is it wise to just put £10 on roulette black/red if it wins = £10 if you lose you get your £10 refunded?

  That’s correct Bob. When I get this offer I just chance my arm on the roulette and see how far I can get. Just make sure you login to your casino account within 24-48hrs if you lose the original £10 as you have to accept the refund ( prompt will come up on the screen to accept it once you login)
