For our qualifying bet, we need to back and lay any horse other than Santini.
At the time of writing, the lay odds aren’t quite tight enough, so I’ll use fictional lay odds for Al Boum Photo in the following example and I’ll update the bottom of the post with an actual selection after the race.

Place £10.00 on Al Boum Photo @ 4.50 = Potential profit of £35.00
Lay £9.51 on Al Boum Photo @ 4.75 = Potential liability of £35.66

So, if Santini wins, we’ll make a nice profit of £7.31! Any other outcome and we’ll lose a maximum of £0.69. Risking £0.69 to make a profit of £7.31, gives us effective odds of 11.59. So, given that Santini is odds of just 5.00 (4/1) to win the race, this is a profitable offer in the long run.
