The Cheltenham Festival 2020 gets underway on Tuesday with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and you don’t want to miss this Sky Bet Money Back Special! Simply place a bet on the 13:30 at Cheltenham and if it loses, Sky Bet will refund our stake as cash, up to a maximum of £10.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £7.50 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- This offer applies to our first cash bet on a horse that runs in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
- Qualifying bets must be placed between 09:00 on Friday 21st February 2020 and 13:30 (race-off) on Tuesday 10th March 2020.
- If fewer than five runners come under starters orders, Sky Bet may withdraw the offer.
- If our bet loses, Sky Bet will refund our stake as cash, up to a maximum of £10.00.
Qualifying Bet:
Losing stakes are refunded as cash, so we can treat this as a risk-free bet offer.
We’ll need to select a horse with long odds in order to maximise our profit.
At the time of writing, the lay odds aren’t quite tight enough, so I’ll use fictional lay odds for Chantry House in the following example and I’ll update the bottom of the post with an actual selection after the race.
At the time of writing, laying our bet at Betfair is likely to give us the biggest guaranteed profit.
Betfair are currently offering new customers 0% commission up to £500 for the first 30 days.
If you’re an existing Betfair customer, you can opt in to pay just 2% commission by selecting their Basic reward plan.
For more information about My Betfair Rewards and how to opt in, please see my Betfair 2% Commission page.
We can work out our lay stake by using the ‘Risk-Free Bet’ setting on my matched betting calculator. We can enter £10.00 as our ‘Cashback’ figure as our full £10.00 stake will be refunded as cash if our horse loses…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £7.71…
Place £10.00 on Chantry House @ 7.00 = Potential profit of £60.00
Lay £7.71 on Chantry House @ 7.80 = Potential liability of £52.42
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Refund | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|---|
Chantry House wins | +£60.00 | -£52.42 | £7.58 profit | |
Chantry House doesn’t win | -£10.00 | +£7.55 | +£10.00 | £7.55 profit |
So, as you can see, with some good odds we should be able to make a guaranteed profit of £7.50 on this Sky Bet offer!
If eligible, our cash refund will be credited within 24 hours of the race finishing.
* Elixir D’Ainay was available at back odds of 19.00 and lay odds of 22.00. Elixir D’Ainay failed to win the race, resulting in a profit of £8.02 on this Sky Bet offer. *

3Will you be doing a run through of all the promotion offers for the festival as there is that many it’s so confusing, just don’t want to mess it up and lose money.

I’d recommend using a spreadsheet to keep track of your cash and the offers you’re doing.

11Do you have any links at all to useful spreadsheet templates?
Matt
1490Not at the moment unfortunately.
I would recommend setting one up with Microsoft Excel. You’ll want a list of the offers you’re doing with the progress of each one and then a separate section where you can keep track of your deposits, withdrawals and balances.
