It’s not advertised on the banner of the betfred mobile website but you will see it under the promotions tab for full terms and conditions

Anyone found any close odds to put use their free bet on. Can’t see anything at present, but should tighten up nearer to kick off.

Anyone know if the free bets have to be used in play or can I do them before?

Use it on anything, including horses. Not restricted to in play either.

Got full extraction out of one of mine already :)

Ahh nice didn’t realise it didn’t have to be football, cheers. Would be good for full extraction if I didn’t wipe my exchange balance by winning every bet a placed yesterday :/

Put it on horses and the bet was void.

Luckily Fred refunds fb’s – unlike the swindlers at coral

Shut the front door! Off one £25 free bet, @Chris? What kind of black magic did you conjure to do that, or was it some funky lay in play ploy?

Almost beats my £50 qualifying profit on England last night after I layed the shit outta the draw after 93 minutes!… No better feelin when it comes off ????

    No black magic Tony, I had a £25 free bet at Betfred and at Tote. £25 x 2 = £50 :P

Ah, I thought you had discovered fire!

Got £78.34 out of my 3?

Some juicy arbs to be had today, 13.0/11.0 and the like – thankfully they all went off higher than the price I took so didn’t beat SP ?

Hi Tony. Can you explain your last sentence to a newbie please?. It takes me a while to get even 80% from my FB. I tried the horses with Coral, but the bet was void and Coral don’t refund FB’s on void bets – tosspots!.

    Hey sleepless, sure.

What I mean is that I found several horses where I was able to back them at a higher price with the bookie than I could lay them for at the exchange (a situation commonly known as arbitrage, or “arb”)

However (and this is the crucial bit as bookies hate it when you take a price that significantly beats the horse’s Starting Price [SP]) the odds on all of the horses I had backed at arb prices actually drifted above the price I took, meaning I had not beaten the SP on any of them (hence my relief).

Now, normally I would not take arbs on bookie accounts that I value (like Betfred) but after a while you start to notice situations like this where you can get a bit more value and be fairly sure that the price will then drift to keep you safe. I tend to find this happens more often that not when the preceding race at any given race meeting is about to go off/in progress.

In terms of voided free bets not being refunded, you need to know that in advance of placing them. If Coral failed to refund you can be sure that such warnings will be in their T&Cs. With that in mind, if using a free bet on a horse on Coral I would tend to wait until the very last minute (as they are Going Behind) in order to be as sure as possible that my nag isn’t going to be a non-runner, rather than placing my free bet in advance of the race.

    HTH :)
