Betstars Aus Open bet & get

  • Usual email offer from betstars but bets must be over 1.5 and settled by Wed midnight.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

No guarantee of losing though, but close enough odds. I could have waited until later as I’ll be doing the betfred 3/1, but done and dusted!

Can anyone confirm whether the rules for a player retiring are the same between Smarkets and BetStars?

I’ve always been a bit wary of betting on tennis in general – losing both back and lay bets would be a sizeable hit on a £100 bet.

From digging into the tennis retirement T&Cs….

Smarkets – one set must be played, else all bets void.

BetStars – one ball must be played, else all bets void.

So if either player retires in the first set, the Smarkets lay would be void whilst the BetStars back would stand. So for example, a £100 bet at 3.6 would either give a £100 loss or a £260 gain.

It is a risk. If your worried I think (but please check) that BF has the same rules as bookies.

Sadly Betfair also requires one set to be completed, so doesn’t match the bookmaker.

I’ve just been hit on the Marco Bagdatis match. Voided in Betstars, and lost in Smarkets.

    Expensive lesson.

Same here Loulou…is it a lesson or just luck though. The bet has value so u would never not do it would you…and 50/50 it could have ended precisely the other way where the bet was voided on stars and won in smarkets

The more I look into this the more I think I’ve been really unlucky here.

Baghdatis was 1 set up and 3 games to love in the 2nd. They would pay out ‘where the outcome has already been determined e.g. 6-4, 5-1’, at the point of abandonment.

If I wasn’t match betting I would challenge this, but I can’t really complain to them that I’ve lost out at Smarkets.

    Oh well !

@matchdem Yeah, you’re right. The fact that I’m going to have another go tonight proves that.

Sorry to hear that @LouLou and @matchedem. Can I ask why the BetStars back bet was voided when more than one ball had been played? Not sure I understand what you mean above in terms of ‘where the outcome has already been determined’, since you said the first set had been completed.

However I do agree that an early retirement is very unlikely and, even if it happens, its 50/50 whether you win or lose. So these bet X get Y if you lose offers still represent value – but saying £5 or £10 guaranteed (see above posts) isn’t quite right here!

“All wagers will be void in the event of a match starting but not being completed, except for bets where the outcome has already been determined. For example – a game is abandoned at 6-4, 5-1. In this instance, bets on the first set winner will be settled as a winner.”

They are really strange terms. I can’t see how you could ever say that the outcome had been determined. Didn’t Andrew Castle lose once after having a match point ?

Anyway, I’ve got over it now. Can’t win em all.

Well Lou Lou in the case of 6-4 5-1 the FIRST SET WINNER is already determined so they would have settled bets on the first set but voided any bets on match winner or any other markets not determined.

Of course, thanks Fog. I feel a bit stupid and poor now, lol.

It’s always a risk to lay with tennis. I either dutch the match result with a bookie with the same rules, or choose a market that isn’t affected such as set betting.
