New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

And dont say yes you would cause you could lay it off thats not relevant its the exact same with 2nd place refunds you can risk 50p for a £25 free bet this gives you odds way in excess of some horses chances of finishing 2nd…maybe thats why your profit is so low compared to everyone elses…ever thought there might be a reason for that or maybe you should ‘gamble’ on 2nd place like everyone else does.
+0Cant be bothered to make an arguement roro, second place refunds have been my most profitable offer by a mile, thousands of pounds in a matter of months.
+0nate – nice profit there. Was ballsy of you, I mean I always thought that horse was nailed on to win but not sure I would punted £100 on it. Well done.
+0I’ve punted a £10 free bet on Ballychorus in the 4.50. Really fancy it to win and at those odds, why not?
+0Roro, yes it’s gambling, yes it’s very very profitable.
Everyone is right.
It’s gambling but pick the right horse with the right qualifying loss and you can engineer a positive expected value.
+0but I’m not risking 50p every race. The ability to minimize qualifying losses on every race for people with a limited bankroll is a gross exaggeration. Especially for people with time constraints who can’t sit there staring at betfair or whatever other exchange all day just waiting for an odds match that hits this minimal level of loss. for example, right now on ladbrokes offer there is no decent matches for people with limited bankrolls. The first three or four horses in the 4.50 are all terrible matches resulting in large qualifying losses. This means staying at my computer for the next 20 mins hoping for odds to move in my favour to limit the qualifying loss. I’ve even noticed it with Matts sky offers all the time. He inserts the proviso that “lay odds are pretty poor as of writing” The truth is that they are nearly always pretty poor unless you watch them like a hawk. This is why i dont participate much in 2nd money back races. Because I end up gambling 1.50+ on horses coming second.
+0I’m sticking by Noble Endeavour!

You’re missing out roro.
+0Anyonehave any freebetsfrom paddy or tlc cone through? They’re not showing in my account yet?
+0Yes granted lots of races doing 2nd place just isnt profitable as having a high qualifying loss on a horse who has no chance of coming 2nd isnt worth it.
If however there is a race with a horse odds of 2 another horse say 5 and then the rest absolute donkeys. It is very very profitable to back the 2nd fav. But as fog says your missing out hence why your profit is so low compared to others you cant really complain+0Punted my free £5 from sky on Ballychorus. Just need to find some good matches tonight on the football to extract the free bets from this morning (been limited by internet proxy filtering grrrrr) and jobs a goodun!
+0I agree you need to speculate to accumulate at times ….50p ffs …hardly a massive loss is it.
+0Can’t even switch off after the racing with the champs league on.
+0I can imagine roro’s logics is losing 10 50ps to get a £25 free bet isnt profitable…..amusing.
+0@elchico. you’ve entirely missed the point of my post which clearly highlighted how it is difficult to minimize losses to 50p. congrats.
To further elaborate on that, someone might throw an example of something ridiculous like a horse that can be backed and layed at 24/24. But we all know that has sweet fuck all chance of coming second. The majority of people on here are winning serious cash from 2nd place refunds. my main query is how they are minimizing losses, and how they are picking horses that manage to come 2nd place a lot.
