EW Arbing

  • Merry Christmas all, day’s over now so back to the grind 🙂

Have started trying out ew arbs, finding them manually but have two questions.

    1. To try and remain under the radar, do you avoid races with a decent arb on the win market?

As an example, would a 17/13 with place at say 5/3.8 be too obvious?

Is it better to do say a 17/17 with the place at 5/3.8?

Or is the ew bet alone enough to reduce back bet profits at the bookmaker?

    2. What kind of stakes can we get away with doing ew arbs?

Made up with my match betting profits so far and i generally have 2-3 hours spare most days and ew arbing defo seems like a good profit booster to overall profits.

    Any comments appreciated.

Hi Supert, reading your strategy, couple of questions if I can.
You lay £50 and ignore commision to make things simple. Why not lay £51.02 to account for the 2% (or £52.63 for 5%)?.
What if win lay odds are more than back odds – won’t you need a calculator then, or do you have a quick mental calculation?.

Chris – great tip. Prices coming in lovely.
For £25ew win is £18, place £10, both risk free underlay and improving.
Wonder if Kieran got on – think we put him off!.

I’ll lay off the win part as usual because I dont see the horse winning and its still a 11/9.6 arb. I went in £50 ew so nice little qualifying profit. Definitely underlaying place though.

@sleepless the reason why wouldnt lay 51.02 on smarkets is because quite often the horse i back maybe 25/1 or higher… that means by laying 51.02 i would owe out £25.50 more if it won than i would be getting back!!! The way to do it would be to lay £52.04 on the place if laying on smarkets if you didnt want to risk commission because that is where the arb is and that is where we could afford to take extra mate…

Also yes i have done that many of these that if laying the win higher i will knock a few £££ off the win lay so if it wins im not paying out more than my win returns if it wins!!

Thanks Super – Like the £52.04 on the place.

What win odds do you think its worth underlaying the win?. Less than 10?.

I’m greedy and underlay too much – usually lose out.

Chris – are you waiting on win and/or lay prices?.
Or taken the small win profit?.

    I’m waiting 9.2 win lay – £34 risk free

Waiting on both mate. The horse is 8.0 at most bookies right now so I may wait for 9 or lower. I’ll underlay the place much closer to the race to maximise potential profit unless for some reason the price starts drifting.

Jeez that wwere close. Took a chance and went in-race. lay 5.8 win, place 2.5.
Underlayed again so bugger all on win. Bit on place.

Yeah that was a strange one. Drifted out to 13.5 on the exchange and then back in to 8.4 before the off. Underlayed the place at 2.

£60 profit on the win arb and place underlay. Not bad for a Thursday morning.

Missed the win/place lay @8.4/2 somehow. Too many distractions

Still £20 on £25ew and chance of the big one @£100+
