EW Arbing

  • Merry Christmas all, day’s over now so back to the grind 🙂

Have started trying out ew arbs, finding them manually but have two questions.

    1. To try and remain under the radar, do you avoid races with a decent arb on the win market?

As an example, would a 17/13 with place at say 5/3.8 be too obvious?

Is it better to do say a 17/17 with the place at 5/3.8?

Or is the ew bet alone enough to reduce back bet profits at the bookmaker?

    2. What kind of stakes can we get away with doing ew arbs?

Made up with my match betting profits so far and i generally have 2-3 hours spare most days and ew arbing defo seems like a good profit booster to overall profits.

    Any comments appreciated.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

bit off topic, but relates to arbs. You’ll frown on this.
With long races and Free Bets, back a long shot, but lay in-race.
Works well with long races and adds to excitement. Downside is if it wins – really hurts.

Saves alot of time pissing about trying to get rid of FB’s

Kieron – you’ll need a big exchange balance and a fair bit in the bookies to make any decent money. Start on £1 -£2 ew as Beesty says.
Bet with a promo (like MBS second or price boost)

gotta agree with the above, this is NOT newbie friendly. If you are having trouble following any of the theory, you are not ready to do this yet. I was MBing for over 18 months before even looking into this. You will get there, but take your time and don’t jump in trying to chase everything that comes along. Most people will have started e/w arbing because they have lost a lot of bookies and need something else to keep the money coming.
BTW, a gubbing doesn’t necessarily mean limiting. My paddy account still allows £50 e/w (sometimes more) and I got gubbed at the beginning of 2016. whereas sky and lads limited me first, then gubbed.

    Excellent 2

I’ve just started doing this but I’ve been dabbling for 12 months at matched betting. I’m doing £5 to £20 e/w at the moment. Its also good to find a bookie providing 1/4 the odds when the rest are offering 1/5. But I can’t use 365 as I’m limited to about £1.50 e/w but others are okay at the moment.

    Hi all,

While trying to set up a new E/W Arb spreadsheet in Excel I wondered if anyone knows of a formula that will work out how much I need to stake for my lay bet so that I can just input the back and lay odds on my spreadsheet without having to flick in and out of the calculator on this website?

    Thanks in advance.

my old spread sheet has a very basic matcher that you can have look at if you want. you should be able to see the formula and work it out for yourself.

Very good, just sometimes the values mess up so you have to re-input

I thought this forum was for helping people out turns out everything i ask is for ”experienced matched bettors”. How do I earn my money then after all after all sign ups are done? Matts offers are once in every 2-3 days and nothing that will make more than $150 a month, about the 2nd places there only there on the weekend same goes to extra places. ew arbing and accas go to the ”experienced. ?????????????????????????????????

    kieron, see this thread

That’s why people don’t want to say, yeah go for it when you could lose over £500 if you get it wrong. Plus, to do these type of things you need a large float for max (ie over 2k)

Thanks for the replies Deathstar and feltt1p.

I must be having an off day as I can’t get the formula to work for me.

At back and lay odds to win of 15/15 and place back/lay odds of 3.8/2.98 your formula provides lay stakes of £9.35 & £9.46 respectively whereas Matt’s calculator says to place lay stakes of £10.01 & £12.84???

These guys know where to look, are lightening quick and calculate odds in their sleep.

What do you expect?. Someone to tell you put £X on horse Y at bookie Z and you’ll make £100 guaranteed.

Don’t work like that or we’d be dining with Phillip Green.

Kieron, matts offers should be good enough to make 500 per month.

There is no magic. If you want to make money you have to figure it out and work for it.

Ew arbing is risky in my opinion. But here is my beginners guide. There is ALOT of help on the forum already in various threads.

    1. Find or create a spreadsheet that calculates ew win and place lay stakes.

    2. Identify good ew races. A) usually have a short favourite, B) usually have 3 or 4 long shots horses 50/1+, C) usually have 8-10 runners or 15-18 runners, D) enhanced ew races often give rise to ew arbs.

    3. Follow the win price and win lay price. Trying to get close as match as possible.

    4. Back ew on the bookie.

    5. Lay the WIN part on the exchange according to the stakes your spreadsheet gives.

    6. Hold tight and hope the place lay goes down.

    7. Ten minutes to the off you should have a nice arb on the place part…

RISKS: place part drifts, non runners, liquidity.

Thanks to FOG, only one who tried to actually help me instead of wasting his and my time with all the useless statements like you don’t have a big enough float, who told you that mate, I have 1500 in Betfair and 700 in Paypal + skrill… I never wanted nobody to tell me go and place 300 on Douvan to win each way + that that that… just want a guide on WHAT TO DO to make money I mean strategies like 2nd places etc…. by the way I’ve done my calculation and Matt’s offers rarely produce more than $300 in terms of profit monthly

    Here look Kieron.

Plenty have helped and shared spreadsheets and dangers/advice with you.

1500 is a small float compared with what most of the others operate with here for ew arbing.
