Horse Racing – Sat 19 March

  • So, if you have any energy left after the last 4 days (not to mention having any exchange float!) what are you on today at the horses.

Thinking if going for Fort Carson with Sky in their 2nd/3rd place at Uttoxeter (14:25), but it looks a tough race to hit a refund on.

None of the other Channel 4 races look particularly easy to find a second in either.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Was hoping Chris will provide us with his selection for the Sky race! Then again typical Sky looks like any qualifying loss is going to cost us!

I’m in an interesting situation today. Got an email from betfair with 25 percent cash back on horse racing losses up to 50 quid. So I’m aiming to lose 200 today. Currently backed brain power in the 2.05 at 4/7 on for 400 quid. I’m awaiting to lay it as I lay for 420 up to 1.66 and still be fine. If it goes my way and I lose on betfair I can do the sky offer and that’s it. Going to palace v Leicester so can’t have as much time to do it today. Anyone else get a similar offer?

Struggling with the bookies odds today after Cheltenham. I think I did an arb for money back 2nd in every race with William Hill at Cheltenham and today there odds are crap in comparison. Might be just be jaded after gorging for 4 days :-)

There are a few WH 2nd races I’ve gone for: 1:50 Uttoxeter, 5:55 Uttoxeter, 2:40 Kempton. BF are keeping on the 3/1+ £25 offer so doing 14:40 Kempton and 16:10 Uttoxeter in that. Sky’s odds, as usual are poor – think I’ll wait until the last 5 minutes.

Oh and B365 Midtech Valentine @5.00

I agree that hitting the sky refund may be tricky, thinking of combining lays on the ‘win’ and ‘ to place’ markets to guarantee a profit from it.
I’ve done this way in the past, if number of places for refund offer = number places payed on the ‘to place’ market, but always just done quick scribble down maths to calculate it roughly!
    Anyone else do this way??

I’d assume laying the place etc would only guarantee a very small amount each time? I would have thought letting it run would be the most profitable way long term

Ascot de Bruyere for the 2.25 Sky 2nd/3rd place offer.

Also got Midnight Valentine 5/5.1 for Bet365 as I had £50 left in there.

Ladbrokes at it again, 3.75 on Midtech Valentine, 4.5-5 everywhere else.

Why would you think that @ryanB?
Surely laying the place too guarantees the profit, not laying it takes that profit you could have had and effectively bets it on your horse being placed – the only difference in the long run is the extra commission at 2%.
Lots of smaller guaranteed profits vs less often bigger wins – same as with underlaying on other events where there are small margins

Cheers Chris soon as I got an email on my phone that you’d done it, did it myself. Got 9/9.6 £1.98 qualifying loss which for Sky isn’t too bad.

Hope he goes off at 10, that way 1st, 2nd or 3rd would be in profit.
