New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Ugh I never claimed he had no chance, I even said that before the race.
Like I said no more tips from me, even though this wasnt one. Its hardly worth the hassle of being answerable to some people on here.
+0Let’s all just calm down, eh lads? No need for any of this really, is there?
+0Classy response.
+0Here here Tony. We should be united against the common enemy.
+0No Chris still post your tips mate you have won me some money in the past! You’re knowledge on horses is appreciated!
+0I really don’t blame you Chris.
If people here are getting so worked up about losing based on a tip given in good faith, then you’re in the wrong game!
The whole point of matched betting is to bet/lay to increase you chances of making a profit, that’s it. There are no guarantees.
I suggest those that feel aggrieved go yell at a copy of the Racing Post or perhaps frequent a different forum for mug punters.
+0OK, here’s my view on the situation and also more generally on the approach taken by some.
Both parties seemingly don’t understand betting or variance. You can’t definitively say that a horse will or will not win… (unless you believe in determinism, but even then you have no means to predict the future with certainty). To be fair, Chris did say that “Rock on Oscar will win this race.” I think it’s pretty clear that he didn’t actually mean that it will win with certainty – he was simply implying that he believed the horse to have a greater chance of winning than the market odds implied. On the other hand, because the horse didn’t win, it doesn’t mean the tip was “shit”… Saying this would be ridiculously results-oriented, which means you simply don’t understand variance (I can’t say whether there was value in the tip or not).
With regards to the approach of researching form and results etc. in order to select horses for offers: I think this is nonsensical. You think that the market is inefficient at pricing this? I mean, fair enough if you have found underlying biases in the market, but if this was the case then you wouldn’t be relying on offers/matched betting to make a consistent profit.

Mark for US President!
+0Thanks Mark.
So now that’s all cleared up can we get back to making money please?
+0That’s lovely Mark, but I don’t think it’s really the point.
No need for pages of analysis here, one guy offered an opinion (that’s all it was folks!), someone else acted based upon it and id didn’t go their way. End of.
I don’t see why Chris should need to explain or defend himself tbh. Bit of decency in the way people talk to each other would be a good place to start
+0If you want a really good tip which isnt shit in the slightest whack all your profit to date on red!! Worked for me lads!!
+0I just called it a shit tip, that wasn;t me attempting to be offensive. It was just an honest opinion. If it did offend anyone, I do apologize. It just left a slightly bitter taste in the mouth when he mentioned that he wasn’t going near this offer because his tip was pretty much a dead cert. But then five minutes after the race finishes he celebrates winning a free bet with Sky while I didn’t bother because a) I assumed his tip was decent given his form on here (and the certainty with which he gave said tip) and b) the back and lay odds were so shit that I felt putting a few quid was my only choice. Not to worry, it wasn’t too much money anyway.
+0God this forums shit at times.
+0I am always suspiscous of people who post of their successes after the event
+0Anyone seen my tea cup, it appears to have been blown away?
