On closer inspection the max seems to vary depending on which market you try so I’m guessing this has nothing to do with the “health” of your account.

@Bryan that’s odd. I’m a member of a pretty well-known matched betting site and they always say to check your pp account go to the biggest sporting event of the day and place a max bet on it

It seems more likely that it’ll depend on the liquidity available at the current odds.

You do read a lot of nonsense when it comes to avoiding being “gubbed”, which often goes unchallenged and instead gets repeated elsewhere as fact. Who benefits from mug betting for example?

I think giving 5% back of winnings on either spins or outside shot acca’s are a good way to keep your account in shape. That’s how I do it anyway. Saying that, I won 15 quid of a 20p spin in Paddy Power today. I honestly don’t know how to avoid being restricted but this is the method I use.

Specious reasoning though, plenty of people have been gubbed while mug betting. It’s pure speculation.

I don’t mug bet and I’ve not had a problem. Say I sacrifice a goat each month and that’s what’s keeping my account healthy?

No evidence atall that mug betting keeps you from being restricted is there????

Surely if you just take free offers you will eventually be restricted. Mug betting is surely beneficial because it shows you don’t just use the free offers. And betting on popular events will keep you under the radar a bit. There’s no guarentee though people have been restricted even though they’ve done plenty of mugs inbetween offers.

I’d rather do mugs and throw some slot gambles in than do nothing. I mean what else can you do? If you do that and still get restricted at least you know you did what you could to keep the account open.

If anyone on here has other reasoning I would be interested in hearing it. We all want to keep our accounts open and should try and help eachother.

Or another alternative, try placing all your matched bets while standing on one leg? It’s better than doing nothing and has just as much evidence to back it up. Also has no further costs associated with it (time/money).

I take issue with sites, or anyone, telling people that they “should”. Particularly when the former often stand to benefit from commission on these bets if you signed up by referral.

Just look at the Corals Boyleports Appollos etc of this world. You can waste your money on mug bets if you like with them but I can think of better things to do. Just get your bonus or free bets early from them and move on. mugs!!!!!

I honestly believe it’s down to the free bets winning with the bookie that accounts have been restricted over time, with these outfits you are free to shove a grand into a FOBT at the shop,or lose a months wages in record time at their casino operation, but if your free bet wins £150 say, your told to f–k off (talking metaphorically as we do matched betting,so we lose on the exchange).
