New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I think its a combination of several factors which have been mentioned in the past on this site. The more offers you do the quicker your accounts will be gubbed and even closed completely. Combine that with the fact that most of the good acca refund offers have either been withdrawn or adversely altered this season, so its not surprising really that the forums are so quiet.
I don’t think anything like as many new people get drawn to match betting as they did in the past due to the offers not being as generous as they once were. There is still decent money to be made doing it, but it takes a bit more effort than it used to. People (including me) want easy money for very little effort, those days have I think probably gone for good.
I am sure some of the guys on this site are still making decent money every month but I am sure it takes more effort on their behalf than it used to.
+0I’ve finally succumbed & signed up to Oddsmonkey. I’m using their forums instead of this one now.
+0It does seem very quiet at the moment.
There’s still money to be made but it seems to be more effort for lower returns.
+0I think as people have said there are less straight forward offers now.
Many people make money from EW arbing/Extra places etc which i assume most people probably keep to themselves and earn money that way so there is no reason to post anything.
+0Agreed things have got a little tougher and will naturally do so with winter coming and no accas to see it through. I’ve taken on a little bit of part time work which has been offered to me just so I can gain a certain base income a week.
+0It’s still doable and tbh could do better without working these extra hours but it’s stable and the work is fun anyway.
+0Get regular offer updates, tip and tricks, big offer alerts and more straight to your inbox.
There’s good enough money to be made still, but the subscription ‘hold your hand’ sites will take the new people through there.
I think the money to be made, and fact ppl get shut down had seen some of them invest effort into setting up these sites. Not a fan of oddsmonkey forum when I’ve looked. It’s a bit too busy so you have to trawl through a lot of meaningless side discussion to get to the points
I do suspect it’s peaked on here as new matched bettors use other sites, and existing ones here have their core offers blocked by bookies. Shame
I’m kind drifting along at the moment. Next easy step would be to pay someone to make them money, but I may do a fog and keep working what I’ve got- and also think more about exchange only methods.
+0Oddsmonkey forum does throw up some little gems here and there. I’m making more money than before, most of the big bookies are gubbed for me, so I’ve hitting them for extra places instead.

+0I’m still here, posting opportunities when I see them.
Can’t be bothered with the £5 guaranteed here and there though so I’m mostly only posting in the ew arbing thread.
+0Aswell as reasons already mentioned, it’s abit of a quiet period in general.
Although this thread shows there are still people lurking on the forum at least..
+0I’m still about. I make almost all of my cash from e/w arbing so theres not much to talk about really. Chris, Mr Crispy and a few others usually beat me to posting the best races for the day, and a distinct lack of newbies posting in the forum means no-one to help out.
I think that shows that the bookies managed to see off the threat from PA etc as there is definitely not a bandwagon to jump on anymore.+0When people post offers (typical guarantees of £5-£10) no one frigging replies so many don’t see the point in bothering, especially since Matt will blog it later on anyway 🙂
This is great forum though, the support people get when they ask questions is great and there aren’t many forums as helpful as this one.
