Haha, as our friend from down the road ( ;) ) says, you want to back the 2nd favourite at Paddy (or any non-favourite horse you fancy), provided you can get an acceptable qualifying loss – don’t just back and lay it regardless of the odds!

Trouble with this race is that the current favourite (Thomas Brown) might not be the SP favourite, so you are better waiting until nearer the off to be sure that you don’t inadvertently back what turns out to be the favourite now, in advance of the race.

If things stay as they are then you would probably be best to back/lay the favourite at William Hills and back/lay 2nd fav (Saint Roque) at Paddy Power.

Of course, with only 5 runners listed, if one were not to start then all bets would be off in terms of refunds from either bookie, as both offers require at least 5 runners to come under starter’s orders

Well I sure hope this 15:15 race goes to plan. I have the top two, but I know that means nothing. Cost £5 so not the greatest qualifying loss but I can’t sort it out closer to the race start
