Winner.co.uk-HELP!!!

  • Right, I need help!! Opened an account with Winner yesterday and deposited £100. This was matched with another £100 and I put it all on a draw in the Wolfsburg game today. I’d looked at the form and thought they’d win. The tossers drew. So I’ve not got over £800 in the Winner account. How do I get rid of this?

Do I bet through the whole £1600 wagering requirement, withdrawing money from my savings account and topping up my Betfair account?

Or do I try to lose the whole lot? If I go for this option how do I do it in a sensible way which keeps as much of the profit as possible?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Well with that amount of money of course this offer is no problem for you, im only 22 and currently doing my accountancy exams and therefore until i qualify my wage isn’t massive therefore my savings is no where near at the level you suggest! I guess matched betting is for everyone regardless of the savings!

Well if anything, you’re probably revealing your age here as it’s actually incredibly hard to save that amount of money unless you’ve benefitted from being able to buy a house 15+ years ago and therefore not have high rents to pay, received free education and got a good job whereby your income exceeds your outgoings and live somewhere that isnt the south east of England. My generation and those after certainly dont have the capacity to save substantial amounts of money which is why we are probably here doing this.

    Anyway, thats another conversation……..

I’m younger than you think and earn less than you think…I don’t own a house yet but I economise wherever possible, e.g. I don’t drive, I don’t eat out and I spend as little as possible on Christmas presents. That said, the one luxury which I won’t give up is my annual trip to Barbados.

chris is a very very lucky guy and I think we should all aspire to be like him. He sounds amazing. If Matt wants to retire we have a replacement who can make us all a shit load of money. Just have to sell my house, sell my car, ditch the wife and kids, don’t buy presents…..Can we all come to Barbados with you chris?

I’m serious, the reason most people don’t have much money is because most people waste money! I think that everyone should have one luxury a year that they treat themselves to [in my case Barbados] but economise on everything else; most people would think I’m mad to go to Barbados when I’m so stingy but seriously, I save so much more than the cost of my trip to Barbados by not having to buy, insure, tax, fuel and service a car, eating cheap food, buying very cheap presents, keeping my heating at a low temperature, asking my family for financial help, not going to the cinema, etc. as well as doing things such as matched betting to boost my income. I’m certainly not rich but it’s not difficult to build up some savings if you try! If you don’t care about having some money in the bank then why even bother matched betting?

Also I earn a lot of interest each year on my 50 grand, this amounts to a nice chunk of the cost of my Barbados trip 🙂

You’re so frugal that you go by chris instead of Chris. Time is money and why waste time searching for the Caps Lock?

I’m sure if I didn’t live in rural Northumberland then I could do without a car. If I wasn’t a runner and ate properly I could eat cheap food. I like giving nice presents to my family. I like the not having to wear 3 jumpers at home. I don’t ask my family for financial help and if I had £50k sitting in the bank I certainly wouldn’t do this. And shame on me for liking a night out at the cinema every now and then!

If only I had £50k in the bank earning 0.01% interest. Out of interest Martin Lewis where do you earn lots of interest nowadays?

Good on you chris. You’re a legend.

Well there’s always public transport, and I’m sure you at least live within reasonable cycling distance of a bus stop. I like receiving nice presents from my family, and I give as nice presents as I can without spending more than a few quid on each family member. I like wearing jumpers! I don’t tell my family how much money I have, although frankly they have even more. The cinema is overrated. I earn between 3 and 5% on my savings which is a nice little extra.

I think this thread is way off point just my opinion though..

chris you’ve obviously never been to rural Northumberland! Good on you for getting the kind of money you’re making from this game. My income from it is nowhere near what you’re making, though I do ok from it. It goes towards over-paying the mortgage. Means I can retire early!

Agreed. Lets get back to slating Winner and their ridiculous Wagering Requirements!

At this rate I could retire at 66 instead of 67!

Well I think we’re partly on the same page Dockie, as if I had a mortgage I would be all for overpaying it; makes much more sense than earning a lower rate of interest on the money or worse, spending it on unnecessities. I’m all for retiring early, I think that’s deep down why I’m so obsessed with saving. I do stand by the fact that I believe that any journey can be made by public transport/cycling [and if need be, the odd taxi costs nothing compared to running a car!], and that most people who drive for personal reasons do so out of laziness, selfishness and stupidity and are wasting money, as well as putting themselves in unnecessary danger [trains are so much safer]. Obviously I’m not against necessary driving [bus drivers, ambulance drivers, rubbish lorry drivers etc.] Maybe public transport isn’t great because most people want to drive but if everyone wanted to use public transport then there would be more of it, and the roads would be emptier meaning that buses would be more efficient! I can’t for the life of me understand why people spend such a large proportion of their income just on running a car! Rant over.
