I had the allanah horse and have won on tote and smarkets. What has happened there?!!!

Horse was first past the post but was demoted to 2nd.

Smarkets pay official result Tote/Fred pay both results.

I wonder if we will get the free bets for 2nd …

Sporting life has mohwoob winning by a nose, but also says Alannah ‘lead at the post’

Reminds me of another Fred Mb2nd offer where my horse was ranked 3rd by stewards even though it finished by a fraction 2nd (no stewards enquiry, just a dodgy steward!). Sounds like you’ve done well on this though

Bl++dy hell, I thought betfred had made a mistake as I hit them up on chat and said my bet had not been settled… I then realised smarkets had refunded me!!! I got the nag on 11s… that’s £275 up for the day!!! + a free bet on H5 :)

Sounds like as soon as 1 horse in the race is DQ’d every man and his dog happened to have bet on that one. And they call me a fantasy LOLLIPOP

So as a newbie to horses, can someone explain in layman’s terms why both Fred and smarkets paid out? Was 1st place overturned by stewards? and why on earth would Fred pay out still? Not compiling mind :)

Billybum, it’s called “first past the post”. In other words some/most bookies pay out based on which horse passes the line first even if it is later overturned by a stewards enquiry. The bookie will end up paying out on both horses.
