Forgive me, but I wasn’t – and am not joking.

I wasn’t suggesting backing and laying the favourite. But merely laying the loss difference on the favourite.

Back Chic Theatre at 6 (odds are just typical of what’s there now)
    Lay Chic Theatre at 7.8

This loses £6.11 with the potential of a free bet of £25 if the favourite wins

If I then were to lay the favourite Divine Spear this would be an insurance policy.

Lay £6.23 (£6.11 plus the 2%) Divine Spear at 1.98

This would result in practically no loss if the favourite (Divine Spear) wins and would only lose about the same if Divine Spear was to not win.

I genuinely would love to know how this doesn’t work? Like with a hands held up admission, quite happy to be wrong!

    Hi,

    my first post..,

I’m relatively new to this match betting lark but I can’t see where it says only losing bets are credited with money back if the fav wins..

like I said I’m quite new to this so may have missed something in the t&c’s

    How to Claim

Place a bet on the 2.00 Doncaster.
If the favourite wins we will refund all win singles and the win part of each-singles as a free bet up to £/€25 within 24 hours.

It’s a fair question if you can’t see it… But in the terms and conditions for this offer.

“3. Refund on losing singles and the win part of each way bets only”

Sorry r2ddont my post was not aimed at you! You are correct in your approach and probably what I will do if i can not get the qualifying loss low enough.

Was aimed at cookie_202 unless you are both the same person!

Ace Rimmer, always read the full terms and conditions before ever placing a bet otherwise you will lose money! And us Match Better hate losing money.

On Sky there is a More Info button to click which opens up the full T & C

Haha! Okay, lovely stuff. I was worried I’d missed something there and had got massively confused.

    Actually…

And this is me thinking without really engaging my brain fully, so do not take this as gospel. Would it not make more sense to lay the difference on the favourite full stop? As the odds are under 1.98, you would surely only lose the same or less than you would by not laying the favourite?

Christ talk about complicating it guys you have a few options. Option A pick a horse (which isn’t the favourite) for the smallest qualifying lose you can find, for arguement sake £3. You then either lose £3 if the Favourite fails to win, or if the favouritre does win you get the £25 free bet assume 80% extraction less £3 = £17 profit.
Option B you lay the favourite for your qualifying loss you therefore divide the qualifying loss by the commission either .98 or .95 for smarkets/betfair therefore 3/.98 = £3.06 you lay the favourite current odds of 1.94 = liability of £2.87. Therefore if the favourite loses…you have lost £3 qualifying loss but you win £3 on the lay resulting in 0 loss. However if the favourite wins you lose £3 qualifying loss £2.87 liability total loss of £5.87. However you then have the free bet once again assume 80% so £20 less £5.87 = £14.13.
Advantages and disadvantages of option A & B. A is more profitable £17 over £14.13 however B is risk free if the fav doesnt win you lose nothing…were as option A you will lose £3.
Hope that clears it up for all you guys who sound pretty confused.

Even if you do not lay a small amount on the favourite, remember that you’ll have qualified for the weekly free £5 with Sky by placing £25 here…..

True it qualifies for that, but there will be many more opportunities to qualify for that, and I wouldn’t not lay the fav just becsuse of that…as laying the fav you still qualifying for that anyway. Risk free also.

Keep it simple, back and lay a horse which isnt favourite and take a £1-3 qualifying loss that you’ll make back in a heartbeat tonight or tomorrow.

Sit back, watch the race and if the favourite wins Sky will give you a £25 free bet to extract some real cash from.

To be honest with Sky have awful odds be lucky to get under £3 loss, everyone has their own method im happy to take a slightly less profit and make it risk free

Odds on this are absolutely shocking………..
Looking at at least £5 loss at the moment. I put my bet on last night hoping they would reduce. People must think the favourite is guaranteed to win

Exactly I wouldn’t take a £5 punt hoping to win £15 profit based on the horse being evens (just below) id rather lay my qualifying loss for risk free
