A little confused over sign-up bonus offers as opposed to free bets

  • I understand that when you need to place a qualifying bet, you should bet on low odds to minimise your loss, and bet on high odds to profit from the resulting free bet. However, when the bonus is instantly applied should I treat the whole amount as a free bet, or consider my initial deposit amount as a qualifying bet?

    For example:

I deposit £10 to get a £10 bonus. Therefore, my balance lies at £20 before I’ve even placed a bet.

Should I bet the whole £20 on high odds? Or bet £10 on low odds, and £10 on high? (The aim being to empty the bookie account and avoid the rollover requirements)

Sorry if this is a bit obvious!

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Hi usingthesystem,
first things first, get the idea that high odds don’t win out of your head, they do and will trip you up if you keep thinking like this.

the key to understanding what is needed to do any offer is to read the T+Cs and see what the offer entails. Usually for a rollover type bonus you can bet the whole balance through at the minimum odds they state as you will be getting the stake returned with your winnings on the proviso that a rollover will follow. sometimes you may have to wait until the first bet settles before the bonus funds become available.

The absolute number one rule for these is make sure you have enough money in your exchange to cover EVERY SINGLE BET you may have to make to get through the wagering in the worst case scenario, ie every bet winning.

have a search of the forums, there are loads of threads about rollovers etc.

    HTH and good luck
