A message to the old guard/New hope

  • Hi,

I feel like I’ve walked into a ghost town, with the evidence of some great articles and discussion by plenty of users. Other than a few threads of the matched betting forum. This forum is dead.

I’ve read through many great threads seen some people create their dreams and people having to say reluctant goodbyes and move onto pastures new.

The reason I’ve started this topic is for 2 reasons a massive thank you to everyone who has come before and a hello to everyone who is new to matched betting like myself. I know it’ll come to an end but that doesn’t mean I want to be a lurker in a ghost town until my time to jump off the bandwagon comes.

Please if your here just say a hi and be active a few times a week on some nonsense thread.

    Tony

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Welcome to the blog Tony.

Granted, it’s not the hive of activity it once was but it remains a great resource and hopefully we’ll see an increase in activity over the coming weeks.

    Hey Matt

Great job you’ve done with the blog/website. The information held within these posts are invaluable to all that come here!

Hope my message didn’t come across as this is failing I wanted to inject some new impetus into the forum!

    Hi Tony,

Good to see somebody trying to inject some activity here. I’m around two years into matched betting, as with most on here have been helped massively by Matt and others on here. And like you want to say thanks for that!

I’ve had most of my accounts restricted and don’t have a big float now so tend to look at bad e/w value and let the place run, big extra place races again letting the place run and more recently footy trading on correct scores.

Will try and contribute when and where I can 😀

    Hey Andy!

Thanks for your reply! I’ve been going for 8 months now and 2 accounts restricted. Obviously the accounts are the blood life of this so trying to really squeeze them out!

Interesting about football score trading, how do you create profit with this?

Hi Tony, just learning the ropes with the correct score trading. Tend to assess a match at halftime when you have an idea of which way the game might go, cover a few correct scores and as the game progresses look to lay off with a view to having a risk free shot of hitting the correct score by the end of the game.

Eg 1-0 at halftime so I’ll cover 2-0, 1-1, 2-1 game goes 1-1 after 65 mins, look to then lay this off which covers the loss of other bets and then have a risk free shot at 2-1.

Obviously this is not matched betting and carries a risk, you could lose all bets very quickly.

Only doing small stakes so far since the start of the season but i’m in profit.

Key is choosing the right game and getting a feel for how it’s progressing.

Just read through this thread and your excellent opening post Tony…a moving and inspiring piece there👍
Been nice on here lately with the new posters and a few ATGs piping in again.the ghostown on this form is awakening again..’New Hope’ indeed- as I have certainly felt a resurgence of The Force on this great forum lately.

Hopefully when the sad time comes and you/others start to lose accounts – you can find friends/relatives etc who you can open up and operate accounts for👍

Welcome Tony, I don’t post a lot on the forums but have been on here for 5+ years (since before there was a forum!). All my accounts are long gubbed and restricted but still manage to make a few hundred a month (better interest than the banks).

There isn’t many posters left here but there is lots of great info that is still relevant if you scroll through the threads – there’s been some very knowledgeable people on the forums over the years, some still lurk and post occasionally. scabbadab has kept the forums going single handed at times in recent months and has been a great source of tips/info!

    Hey Antisocial,

Glad your still about after all this time. I will appreciate all the information from people at the other end of the journey. I now have 4 account gubbed/restricted. It’s frustrating and obviously they are the bloodline it’s actually working out what best for the MB terms I’m trying to be a more relaxed mug bettor but when you see value it’s hard to ignore. Now I’m fully onboard I’m making good money, one question I’ve been meaning to ask do you hit the shops on big meets? Say aintree Cheltenham and ascot?

    Hey all,

This is my first post here for ages. I started matched betting 3 years ago. Now majority of my accounts are restricted, and the people I know are reluctant to make new accounts for me.

I have slowly transitioned to football trading over the last year or so, and so far things are looking positive.

Tried to do ew arbing on bad ew races, but never was very successful with it. But who knows, might look into it again.

    Hey Adio,

Good to have you back on the forum! I don’t know much about the football training so maybe you could start a thread with how you are doing this or how it’s been going for you this last year?

On the EW arbing I personally would say it’s more profitable than matched betting, there some great information in the matched betting forum and others often post horses to place bets on and lay closer to the race. Start small of your accounts allow you! There are often posts on which races to look out for!

Hi…been doing this for a couple of years now…messed up big time at the start but ok now….funds are not huge but the advice here is good and helps me a lot. Lucky enough not to be gubbed by too many and still able to join a few new ones. Really appreciate all the guidance I can get. ..and thanks to all who take the time to put it out there.

    Hi Steve,

Hope all is well now! Think the beauty of this is the funds if not required can build up to major wins, interesting you’ve been going so long without being gubbed to often.

The information on these forums is literally worth thousands!! Just can take a bit of trowelling, was reading the kwiff thread earlier that you mentioned some great information
