A message to the old guard/New hope

  • Hi,

I feel like I’ve walked into a ghost town, with the evidence of some great articles and discussion by plenty of users. Other than a few threads of the matched betting forum. This forum is dead.

I’ve read through many great threads seen some people create their dreams and people having to say reluctant goodbyes and move onto pastures new.

The reason I’ve started this topic is for 2 reasons a massive thank you to everyone who has come before and a hello to everyone who is new to matched betting like myself. I know it’ll come to an end but that doesn’t mean I want to be a lurker in a ghost town until my time to jump off the bandwagon comes.

Please if your here just say a hi and be active a few times a week on some nonsense thread.

    Tony

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Hi Tony. ..thanks for the response. ..I think the reason I have not been gubbed by too many is because I haven’t hammered the reloads. I still have accounts that I haven’t used for months that still send me offers….I do what I can on my budget…even though it is sometimes tempting to go big I always err on the side of caution. The one gubbed account that really annoyed me was betway…never even let me do the joining offer…got the email before I even deposited!!! I am now slowly going through all the old threads on here….as you say…good info worth good free money. Let’s hope for some more interesting stuff and a bit of banter!! Good hunting to you all!!♤♧◇♡

Yea been gubbed by 5 firms now, but I hammer almost everything all the time! Might take break on few of them to prolong the matched betting adventure, though I have plenty of peoples accounts to go through!

first month matched betting done – been feeling like I’m a bit late to the party! Been a good month though, your tips have been helpful Matt thanks! Would love any advice and tips from anyone for how to keep the profits steady these days outside of weekly bet clubs, might take me some time to get the hang of the more advanced stuff!

I don’t put too much emphasis on the house. But you should also be financially secure

Hi all, good to see you’re trying to get things going again. This sight has been invaluable over the 3-4 years been doing this. Gubbed from most now though, each way extra places my main effort these days. Would love to know about football trading now thats starting back again. Does anyone know how VPN works? i’m being restricted now after 1 bet from new bookies so they obs know my ip address, could this help me for future bookies? Any advise would be great, and thanks again!

Hey Rambuster, you not thought about 4G trading IP address isn’t static with mobile internet.

Rambuster – being restricted after 1 bet is unlikely to have anything to do with your IP address unless you are MAing from the same IP.
It is most likely that the new bookies you are signing up to are part of the same group as a bookie you have been previously gubbed or restricted from. TGP Europe and GVC Group are the most noted groups at doing this.

Also – a VPN won’t help you when signing up. You’ll most likely get an instant ban as it’ll flag on their systems immediately. VPNs are fine if you already have an account as although it’s against the terms, they don’t appear to really care. I’m pretty sure they just care if the initial sign up is legitimate and from a residential IP.

    Evening all,

The lack of posts by old timers is probably the fact they are gubbed at most bookies, that and openly advertising matches betting encourages others to take advantage of offers.

There are lots of websites advertising the advantage of matched betting and as a result bookies are getting smarter.

The bets that folk use for matched betting are also easy to pick, especially if the likes of oddsmonkey is advertising an arb.

To keep your bookies accounts open, you need to be profitable to them, which means taking a -EV bet that helps balance their books, but then would take a hit on your profit.

There is also a sweet spot to maximise return on snr bets, which I think is around 5/1.

To prolong accounts, you could dutch, so bet on all three 1×2 outcomes, but then you always win at one of the bookies which doesn’t help either.

    It’s a difficult one.

Is there still money to be made? – Yes
Is it worthwhile for old timers – there is diminishing returns, bookies with terrible odds, or gubbing. The only other solution is to know accounts, but that’s technically cheating.

It’s a difficult game. The longest odds I’ve had was a £10 25/1 SNR go out to 50/1, and was given the SP. I only lay£6 so more than Chuffed.

I also randomly found a Greek soccer game where the correct score odds were all under 3 – think it was a bit gone wrong, so I made a grand of that as well 🙂

The ideal long term solution would be if you could back and lay across exchanges at a profit, but it’s difficult to find decent odds.
