I’m all for people discussing matched betting and helping each other out, but I draw the line at people using it as a marketplace to profit from affiliating or selling products or services. Anyone found doing so from this point onwards will be removed.
I find it particularly disrespectful, given that my site is completely free to use.

With all due respect Matt, I have to disagree with you. Jez and myself (yes, we do actually know each other in real life) are two key contributors to your blog and often give our time to help others – something which you do not.
Furthermore, the accumulator generator service/site has been discussed in great detail, resulting in numerous sales to your members. We feel that the service is heavily overpriced so took it upon ourselves to make an alternative and save people on this forum a large sum of money.
Finally, although this blog may be freely accessible, you have monetised the site through affiliate links galore… please don’t make out like you’re doing this for free.
If you’d rather members paid a stupid amount for some other service, then so be it. Please remove my account if you seriously disagree with me.

I think it’s unfair to say Matt hasn’t taken time to help others. This is his blog, with ascoiated calculator, forum and guides. Many of us are hundreds / thousands up, purely due to this site. I fully expect Matt to be getting some revenue for the site and if he believes others shouldn’t be selling their services here then you should respect his wishes. This is a chat to be had between the two of you, not in the forums.

I purchased the accumulator generator membership after hearing about it off this site (and hope to be getting my money back with the 30-day guarantee after finding it’s an annual fee).
I’d be more than happy to pay an extra £5 or £10 if Marc and Matt can come to some agreement where they both benefit! Doing accas like this is great because it makes us seem like mug punters and these offers are constantly on.
Anyways, I hope you guys can come to some kind of agreement in the interests of Matt and the sites users.

May as well chip in now:
Matt it’s your site so what you say goes. If you want nothing more to be said on the matter that is perfectly understandable and I will refrain from mentioning it again, heck you are free to delete my account if you don’t wish to discuss the matter after reading this. You made the site to make money and deserve to be doing so, I don’t think anyone would say otherwise. It would reasonable to prohibit discussion of any paid matched betting services which do not benefit you directly, you have put time and effort in to this site so I could agree that you should be the only one to profit from it if that were your wishes.
What I don’t understand is what the difference is between talking about this and others talking about ‘profit accumulator’ and ‘oddsmonkey’ – both are premium services with which you are not affiliated (?) yet discussion of these which ultimately leads to sale of both products has been allowed on this site with out your intervention. What I proposed would be no different – it has no relation to this site, hosted else where with payment and product delivery taking place via an existing online marketplace – so why is this specifically outlawed?
It is not as if we just came to the site to try and advertise a product to make money – we have been helpful contributors on the forum since it started. It was only upon realising people were getting ripped off by an alternative service we suggested something more reasonable within this thread. If we launched a product and another user posted a thread about it on the site I’m positive it would play out much like this thread: ie lead to sales, so In what way is it different to mention it directly ourselves?
I can only assume the issue comes from seeing us potentially profiting and feeling you should be getting a cut? If discussion on this forum did result in any reasable around of sales I had the intention of making a proportional donation to the site, however I still do not feel it would have been necessary or should have been expected. Please let me know (publicly or privately) if you have anything to add to this discussion.

Hopefully Matt, Mark and Jez can sort all this out privately, a public forum is not the place to be discussing these issues.
If it is sorted one thing I would be concerned about (this is possibly paranoia on my part) is how to arrange payment without being identified. If you think about it, bookies would likely be willing to pay for ID information on anybody who has taken the time and trouble to purchase this type of software because these are just the type of people they do not want as customers.

Can’t see that being legal at all Dave…I don’t think even big bookies can get away with buying Personal Data….Data Protection Act and all that
+0I don’t think it is legal Ryan and as I said perhaps I am being paranoid, but if you look at what has happened in the banking, insurance and various financial industries over the last few years then I think its best to be cautious.
Many professional gamblers who have their noses to the ground suspect bookies do share information on customers with one another. I would not be surprised if some of this went on, after all bookies are not known to be the paragons of virtue are they.

Currently studying Law for my accountancy exams which Data Protection is covered. I seriously doubt massive companies such as bookies don’t abide by the Information Commossioners, it would be all over the news and major fines. Sharing customers details with eachother is a big no.

For me, the blog has been mostly supplanted by the forum which is thanks to a handful of active and knowledgeable posters. Both Mark and Jez have offered significant insight in to ACCAs. I assume having a “sticky” forum drives plenty of clicks through affiliate links? It does seem slightly disingenuous to ignore the value created by others.

All looks like a private discussion subject between Matt and the other parties to me.
Never run a site or a forum but i’m sure there are lots of technicalities which is probably why Matt has this subject covered in the forum rules.
For example, if sites are giving the site cash for affailiate links/advertising, why should somebody else get free advertising.
Problem with rules though is they have to apply to all and be fair, the place probably needs at least a moderator and a fleshing out of the rules here.
