Advice needed

  • So I’ve just litterally started match betting and ive lost all my money.

I started with signing up to coral and betfair.
I deposited 5 pounds to coral which I used to place a random football bet, so then I would get the free 20 pounds.

I recieved the 20 pounds in my account with coral, so I then went and deposited 20 pounds of my own money into the betfair account.

So just to clarify, I have now spent 25 pounds so far by depositing 5 into coral which is now gone and 20 into betfair.

So now I have 20 pounds free in coral and 20 pounds from myself deposited into betfair.

I placed a 20 pounds bet on a team to win in coral which if won I would have recieved 25 pounds. I then made a lay bet at betfair on the same team to loose with the 20 pounds of my own money. Bottom line the team won so I lost my money with betfair.

Even though I won with coral i only recieved 5 pounds of the (what should have been) 25 pounds because the free money you don’t actually get back, so someone tell me please how you actually make money of doing this???

    What did I do wrong??

    Hey,

When it comes to using free bets it’s advices to use odds of over 6/1 or 7.0 in decimal. The higher the odds and the closes the back and lay odds the more profit you will make.

Play with the calculator on this website, try a few different odds and you will see high odds are far more profitable than low odds.

Keep going there is plenty of offers and money to be made. My advice would be to use a calculator for the first couple of months and you will understand the types of odds you need.

It sounds like you’ve made a couple of mistakes here @frustrated92.

As Tony has pointed out, you need to place free bets at higher odds. As the free bet stake isn’t returned, higher odds will enable you to maximise your profit.

You also need to make sure that you are laying the right amount which you can use the calculator for.

I’m not sure what exactly happened with your lay bet. If you placed a lay bet of £20.00 at really low odds, you should have only lost around £5.00-£6.00 at Betfair.

Be sure to have a thorough read of my matched betting guide which takes you through the process step-by-step…
