Niiiiiiiice, no rule 4 but liability at exchange reduced meaning the arb on Ultragold was 19/16.5 and 4.6/4 on the place.

    Happy days.

Hello all, fairly new to each way arbing (started at Cheltenham in fact) but am already seeing decent profit and feel comfortable with it.

I’m wondering how you approach extra place offers to squeeze most profit out? Are you aiming for the extra place, or underlaying the place so you win for any place finish?

EG in the 16:05, I had 3 horses in the top 5 but only won anything significant for the one that finished 5th (extra place). I’m thinking you guys have a better strategy…

What’s the strategy with big field handicaps, assume you’re underlaying on the 5TBP market? My approach has always been to try to hit 5th, which if backing 5 or 6 horses means I should hit every 4th race, which seems about right.

However I tend to back the top end of the field due to better win odds matching, which means more than often I’m placing 1-4 with no profit.

    Edit: same question as Otiz!

    Great minds Tennis!

For example I see Chris obviously won big on Ultragold, I won a couple of pounds. I want a piece of that cake :D

Don’t ignore the bigger priced horses. They might be a loss on the win but often the place arb will cover that and more. Plus if you spike extra place you’ll likely have a bigger return too.

I suppose it works best when 1/4 odds are offered, yet more and more pay 1/5 with an extra place. But still worth taking 1/4 odds on 4 places as this is where the natural value occurs?

FWIW I only go for decent place arb on the exact no. of places. Keep win back and lay odds close – you can alway give up a couple of £ on the place lay.
Take your time, just go for decent arbs in big fields and hammer bad ew’s although you’ll lose accounts quick.
I usually do full underlay unless the gtd is 60%+ of underlay. Consider punting a bit on 2nd/ 3rd favourites with bad ew’s. Watch out for NR’s
