Backing a team to win a tournament and laying off each round?

  • Sorry for the newb question.

Is there a term for backing a team to win a tournament, and then betting on each individual leg and (hopefully) ending up with a profit?

For example, Ireland are 11 in decimal odds to win the Rugby world cup. They are likely to play three games (potentially – quarter vs South Africa, semi vs Wales, final vs. New Zealand) which could realistically have lower odds than 11 when multiplied together. Obviously a simplistic view of it, as exchange commission needs to be taken into account, along with other factors.

Is there a term for this type of betting so I can do further research? Are there any calculators that help with this? Has anyone had success with this method? Thanks

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

The issue with this is that we don’t know what the lay odds are going to be for each knockout round match.

Therefore, it’s impossible to know whether we can make a guaranteed profit.
