Now, I usually stick completely to matched betting methods to make my profit, but when i saw this thought why not do something slightly different for Cheltenham. Going to open another account with them, lay the qualifying £10 off using normal methods, then have a free £2 flutter on every race. Will be interesting to see how much i end up with having only backed the horse i think will win each race rather than laying them off. No worse off if i lose all 28 races!!

Sounds like a decent offer! How will you be able to open another account with them though if you already have one registered to your name?

If your punting free bets think about this.

A £2 free bet on evens horse will return £2 about 50% of the time. Long term value = £1 per race.

A £2 free bet on a 9/1 horse will return £18 about 10% of the time. Long term value = £1.80 per race.

Very simplified scenario ignoring over round etc. But you’re winning on average 80% more going for a 9/1 rather than a 1/1…

So I wouldn’t be punting on the horse you think will win, but rather a long shot which you think has a better chance than the odds given…..

Fog, brilliant advice.

Fwiw, a 9/1 sp wins just over 8% of the time but still better long term value than an evens when punting a free bet.
