  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I used to do this offer and hope to hit the winner, however I might start changing to Matts method when ever he posts it up on blog

e.g instead add 0.8 to the back price, as 80% is the element of the free bet that can extract if hit a winner

Recent example, horse back is 6.0, lay is 6.2, so 6.8/6.2 for £50, guarantee £3.92

Now that might not be much, but every Channel 4 Saturday has usually 7-8 races, and the liquidity is much better too, so much tighter matches, 6.8/6.0 for example is £5.72 a race, so what 7 races each Saturday, 4 a month, 28 times £5.72 is £160.16 profit a month (if you like spending a few hours sat watching racing like I do anyway), and they say matched betting is dead…

Anyway, my query, for anyone able to answer it is, in changing to overlaying for guaranteed profit, I am not yet sure what happens if I hit a winner

Previously I would then use the risk free extraction to extract the profit, which would also qualify for another free bet should the horse also win, however by guaranteeing profit each race, how does this affect the risk free calculator equation

I cant help but think it is a bit more complicated than simply adding 0.8 to the back odds, or is it?

u wont find 6/6 matches on many races especially in the week

and….if you want 80% extraction you won’t get this on 6.0 horses maybe

u have to be careful to not make matched bettingboring i’d say….the race itself is most of the fun

    Hence why I referenced Saturday

I did get a 6.0/6.2 with 2% commission, and if that is the free bet it is 79.29%

And personally I am happy to take 75% anyway, qualifying bets at low odds and all free bets at big odds is just a massive give away, qualifying and free bets should be at similar prices, greed is not good

I thought you would have been able to answer my query on if doing the overlay (to guarantee the same profit) and a winner comes in, how the risk free bet should be done

The reason I am changing is long term the returns should be pretty much the same, also I have always been reluctant in the past to take longer odds even if can get a lower qualifying loss, because on average should take longer to hit the winner, however I should always be taking the best match, and guaranteeing profit will reduce variance

The betfair offer of £25 on Saturdays is also dooable, so pushing £10 guaranteed a race with a very good match

Jdrobbo, at top of the horse racing page (before the daily meetings), it has the options channel 4/1 or feature 4/1, click them
