Betfair Each Way Edge

  • Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone had thoughts on if the each way edge can be used for a profit? For those who don’t know it, its where you can choose how mant places you have for each way bets

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Hi Quid the answer was definitely a yes a few years ago when BF first introduced Edge. It was particularly profitable where they offer extra place terms. They also messed up some of the calculations so sometimes the increase on the win was not in proportion to the reduction in the place terms (suspect they would have corrected that by now). You could then reduce the place and get a big arb on the win. Used to get lots of big win arbs which were a lot of fun to fully underlay.

I became restricted at BF to not even a penny so I cant use it anymore. That was over a year ago so I have no idea if its still profitable.

Best thing you can do is mess around with Edge, small stakes where there is sufficient liquidity in the win and palce markets so you can calculate arbs straight away. After a while you will get an idea of the types of profitable races and the types of profitable odds. That gives you a big advantage because you’re no longer reliant on the place market being fully formed before placing your bets
