Betfair Each Way edge
-
So I just noticed this gizmo.
On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.
For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.
This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.
BUT
If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.
Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.
Anyone use this feature regularly?

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Found one.
Dream Castle in the 2000 Guineas. 15.0 at Betfair (plus edge). Laying at 13.
+0Anyone else noticed that the enhancement on longer odds horses seems to have changed.
I was keeping a spreadsheet with a list of odds and what they were enhanced to when going from 4 places to 2. It seemed to be consistent but last night I had a couple of bets on the 19.45 at Cork.
Pedro was 17 when I looked, which I expected to be enhanced to 26 (and effective odds on the win of 16.62) but it was enhanced to 29 (effective odds on the win 18.5).
The Ballyboys was 23, which I thought would enhance to 34 but it was enhanced to 41 (effective odds of 26).
Hopefully they stay like that, it makes it a little easier to get an arb on the win..

what did the Edge price take it to?
+0think it was 12/11.5 or something like that….
+0‘think it was 12/11.5 or something like that….’
So you made £60 profit from placing £100 at 12/11.5 ?
I think I am missing something.

+0what price did THe Edge take dream castle to Chris ?

I made 50p from that or a bit more. A 16/1 horse was then withdrawn from the race reducing the exchange price down to about 10.75 but because was over 12/1 no rule 4 at the bookie. So when the horse won I was 60 quid better off
My point was u say its not worth hoping for non runners to chris but it really is, u will get a few per meeting every day and they usually reward u
Come on specialz I thought u would get this matched betting by now

+0Lol… I think I have better things to make my money on rather than hoping to get a 12/1 with a N/R.
+0Can I just make sure I’m being an idiot?
At one point I saw a horse for 17 without edge, and with edge at 2 places, it was 29.
Since the lay was 18 at the time, even though that’s obviously a couple of ticks higher than the non-edge back price, I would still make a guaranteed profit of £10 (assuming I backed at £10 ew, £20 overall), and about £70 if it came second.
Is that right? The lay doesn’t even need to be equal to the back? It can be a few ticks higher and still avoid a qualifying loss?
Sorry, just been studying some races before diving in. The figures above are rough figures.
+0Even at 21 I am not convinced it is any bettter than just taking the standard 15/13 arb.
+0Your opinion. I’ve made no loss whatsoever, small profit if he wins, big one if he comes second. Completely risk free.
+0looks like heavy restrictions now on for me
