Betfair Each Way edge

  • So I just noticed this gizmo.

On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.

For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.

This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.

    BUT

If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.

Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.

    Anyone use this feature regularly?

I think a non runner would change terms to 1/4 odds for 3 places. So even then not in bad shape.

Today’s each way edge tip is Don Bersey in Warwick 12:55.

It is a good candidate for e/w arbing this race and just noticed you can have 4 places on the e/w edge for the same price as 3 places for this horse.

It makes sense as it looks like a 3 horse race, but you never know with horse racing, he could wind up 4th and then you’ve won your back and lay if you’ve tried to e/w arb him for an added bonus.

Read these posts with interest and makes me think there is the potential for joining forces with someone you trust so that one backs in Betfair Sport using the edge facility and the other takes the lay side in Betfair on a favourable race. Hopefully that way this activity would not get picked up?

Whether the liquidity is sufficient to make this worthwhile is debatable?

Some opportunities in the Leicester 14:40.

The pick for me is Dusty Raven (+1). To win with e/w edge +1 is 2.62/2.96. To place 4 is 1.32/1.09.

Its about £2.15 profit for every 25 you stake.

Lucy MC is profitable too at +1 and betfair price might rise on her to 12’s which is the standard across most bookies at the moment for some BOG. Just worried about her drifting out on the exchange as well though.

Im not laying betfair against betfair, but just using the figures to see if there is value and having small stakes where I see it.

No BOG on bets placed with each way edge.

I wonder if anyone has given the ew edge further thought? Some new way to exploit it? Matchedem, what do you think?

Having a look at tomorrows races but i cant see any value either way. Moving the places down the price doesn’t increase much at all, and putting them up it falls loads. Got a race you would recommend checking?

What’s this new top secret strategy then? All sounds very cloak and dagger on the other thread ?

What it is for me Tony is that the guy that posted it wanted it removed, so i gotta respect that, right? At the same time though there are regulars on here that it’s not fair they be kept in the dark.

We’ve already been looking at the ew edge so if I spot a value bet using that feature I will post it here…

    Haydock 15:15

    Limited Reserve is 10.0/10.5.

But add ew edge for 2 places and you get 16.0 for the win implies 4.75 to place.

So back £10 ew edge (-2) @16. If first win at bookie 150+37.50 (win part plus place part) = 187.50.

    Lay £19.80 @ 10.5, liability £188.10

    If horse wins -60p
    If horse 2nd +£40
    Any other place -60p.

Obviously be more liquidity tomorrow and more opportunities and better opportunities.
