    Tomorrow after midday.

I backed slightly under, but put 5% in commission by accident, worked at £0.68 profit, wow!

Didn’t watch, how close was it, how lucky were we?

Well, Brandon Hill was first from the off and won by half a nags head after being run down in the closing straight by Potters Corner. It was actually close to being exciting as I don’t find horse racing exciting normally!

Can you help me with extra places mate? I read Matt’s guide but got confused with calculating the Lay stake! His example Paint the clouds (6.40 at Coral) he says the following: In order to work out the odds of the place part of our each-way bet, we need to convert our decimal odds into fractions. Using Paint The Clouds as an example, we need to subtract 1 from 6.00 to get our fractional odds, which are 5/1. We will be paid 1/4 of these odds, so we need to divide 5.00 by 4, which is 1.25. We can then add the 1 back on, to give us decimal odds of 2.25 on the place part of our each-way bet.

Did he make an obvious mistake saying PTC is 6.00 instead of 6.40 (the actual price) or you need to make prices like 10.4 into 10? What if a horse is priced at 11/4?

Free bets are in early. I’ve never done any extra places, bit confusing for me.

He made an error I think Tony.

    Example
A horse that is 9/1 (10.0) to win and the place terms are 1/4 1-2-3 (top 3 places in the race).
    Step 1
You take the decimal figure and minus 1 (10-1=9)
    Step 2
Take your figure of 9 and divide it by 4, because the terms are 1/4 of the odds for a top 3 finish (9/4=2.25)
    Step 3
Add 1 back on to this figure (2.25+1=3.25)

You can take advantage in this situation if bookies are paying an extra place as you are betting for a horse to finish in the top 4 for example, and laying for it to finish in the top 3, so if it comes 4th you’re in the money.

Pretty crap, usually find the odds are far apart on these ones but don’t not look because I don’t?
