Betway warning

  • Hi all,

I’m not sure if this is me being daft or worthy or everyone being aware but I recently got restricted from bonuses/refunds and can’t get a bet on any kind of boost. I had approx £800 in my Betway account and had withdrawn £100 before getting the restriction email. My displayed balance was then obviously reduced by £100 as you would expect.

I then received the following email:

‘Congratulations on your recent win at Betway sports and we hope that your luck continues.

As you made use of our free promotional, we would like to remind you that your withdrawal is subject to our free promotional offer T&C’s.

5.6 Withdrawal Limits on Free Promotional Offers

Betway reserves the right to limit withdrawals from any Bingo Bonus (Bbz) / Free Tickets/ Free Bonus / Free Bet / Free Casino Spins added to a Customer’s account up to the value of £/$/€50. This limit will apply should the Bingo Bonus (Bbz) / Free Bonus / Free Bet / Free Casino Spins be granted with no deposit needing to be made on the account, unless specifically stated otherwise in the terms of the promotional offer.

We are very excited to confirm that your withdrawal amount of £50 is on its way to you. While you are on this winning streak be sure to make use of our next amazing promotional offer.

If you need any assistance please feel free to contact our friendly help desk. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience.

    Kind regards,

    The Betway Team’

My balance is still £100 down and I have just received £50 into my Paypal account meaning in my eyes they have stolen £50. My balance was obviously made up of a variety of things, mostly from winning regular bets while trying to hit the 2nd place refunds. When I was withdrawing I’m 99% certain I would have noticed if my ‘withdrawable balance’ was different to my actual balance and I can now see that they are definitely displaying the same figure. When you withdraw, there is obviously a box to tick confirming that T&Cs have been read and these don’t mention anything to do with the above, although the above is in their main T&Cs. I also received no warning when making the withdrawal that this would be the case.

I have no idea what part of my balance would be from any promotions and how they could possibly decide that as I’ve obviously put on numerous bets since and it’s not as though I’m involved in a Bet 365 style initial bonus where I need to turnover 5x the deposit or anything like that.

So, apologies for the long post but I’m wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this? I will obviously got on live chat but thought I’d ask her first in case anyone has any advice.

    Thanks in advance.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I see it says it is restricted if the free bet, bonus etc was a no deposit free bet or bonus.
What free bet, bonus have you received? Was it a no deposit bonus?
Can you check your bonus history and the t&c’s for the specific bonus received.

I do hope you have no problem withdrawing the remaining £700.

    Hi A10,

I ended up on live chat and they quoted that I had made my entire balance from exactly that – no deposit bonuses but it’s a nonsense. I keep complete records and I did win 8p from some free spins but then deposited £40 on my own money to bet with so that’s the only thing I can see that might have flagged something on their system. But I feel as though the 8p would have been completely used as soon as I bet a bigger amount! The dates they quoted that I benefited from the bonus do not correspond to any changes in my balance and I can piece together how by balance changed to prove it so that will be a fun Saturday morning for me!

I do think it’s a valid warning for anyone in that you could easily win say £20 on some free spins, bet the £20 and hit a second place refund etc and then your balance could grow and you never be able to withdraw it.

I’ll find out what”s what tomorrow and post an update once I know.

    Thanks

I’d be worried about the rest of the money you have in your account. If you have used money from Freespins to place a bet unfortunately it looks like you’re fecked.

I feel for you. They are a joke of a bookie…

I signed up for them prior to Cheltenham this year and got some bonus funds.

I placed three bets, all three lost (thankfully) and this reduced the cash balance (not the bonus funds) and then they refused to take any more bets.

I went to withdraw my remaining cash funds knowing I’d lose the bonus. When I tried to withdraw I was directed to live chat. Live chat told me that I would lose my bonus funds (ok, I expected that) and any winnings to date (which I was ok with because I didn’t have any) and an extra amount because they had to take into account what would happen had one of my bets won…

It was completely illogical to me…eventually I got my deposit (less the three bets that lost) back…

I’ve read your OP twice now and still can’t really understand what Betway are actually saying…

Are they saying they can take £50 away from you if any % of your balance was won with a free bet/free spins, even if the amount won was like 20p? Are you talking about a promo you had to wager to receive or that you were credited free spins and built a bankroll there from that?

Surely if you deposited £40 and then built an £800 bankroll then that is your money?

It seems utterly ridiculous, they are a disgrace of a bookmaker IMO, I had trouble months back when they took a 50p rule 4 on a winning bet (which was rectified after many back and forth emails with their support…)

Well since this, my balance has been made £0! They quoted that I benefited from bonus winnings on a couple of dates that were completely incorrect as my balance did not change on the dates. So the point is not that they think they can take £50, it’s that the max they pay out is £50 so they have taken £835 (£885 – £50) from my balance.

To clarify, I won 8p on some free spins then put in £40 of my own money in and bet from there. I’m just trawling through their T&Cs now to see if I can find anything that says regular account balance will be used before bonus funds anyway which would imply that they could deduct 8p bonus funds from my account!

Anyway, I’m about to start putting my transactions together to make sure I’m not missing anything but I will give them every opportunity to resolve properly by admitting it was an honest mistake on their part and refunding the money before going to war with them if they don’t.

Posting exact details like this is never a good idea.

    This is very weird.

If you are right that you won 8p from the no deposit free spins, and then deposited £40 to build up money with your own deposit, then there is no way they should be able to keep that- it’s just ridiculous and obviously incorrect!

Take screen shots of all the relevant transactions and email them with a detailed description saying you want your money back otherwise you will complain to the regulator.

I know Betway are a joke of a bookie but I’m finding it hard to believe they would do this unless there is more to the story then you are letting on?

Yep, got screenshots of literally everything! There’s nothing more to this than I’m letting on (unless I’m genuinely missing something) and I’m hoping that my account was just incorrectly marked or something because at one point 100% of the funds were from free spins, regardless of how small. I’m pretty confident that I’ll be able to get it sorted but I posted here more because although I don’t post often, I’ve got a ton of useful info from this site so didn’t want anyone to fall foul of the same T&Cs. I think my situation is a ludicrous interpretation of them but I can see how someone could fall foul of them by winning a bit more in bonus funds and their account growing from there.

Anyway, emailed them my thoughts earlier on so I’ll post the outcome if and when I get a response although I doubt that it will be today.
    Thanks

Hope it works out for you CB. When I have done their sign up offer before I just stuck to PL and champs league matches. Looks like you know what your doing with screenshots and will let the complaint take its due course.

Gubbed a long time ago by these jokers as nearly everyone is !!!

Terrible situation anyway CB, surely they have got it wrong.

So they give you 20 free spins or whatever, you win 8p. So at this point, they now claim no matter how much you deposit and play with additional money, your account is forever limited to a £50 win? That is basically what they are saying.

I’m outraged just reading this shit!

That’s a perfect summary of what they’re saying – makes no sense!! I’m sure most people have had free spins from them at some point. So basically no one can win more than £50 ever again.

I’d be confident it will eventually be resolved though, there’s no way IBAS would let them get away with something like this.

Gubbed by these after 4 days and 2 bets! Seems like a blessing now. Absolute bunch of crooks by the sound of it. Hope you get a satisfactory resolution to your predicament pal
