Cant figure out “simple” calculation

  • Im having a brain freeze problem i hope someone can help me with, i had a £1 free bet from coral which i won 15 from on a horse, with the 15 was i right to think this as a free bet with stake returned?
I assumed so and i done the calculations and everything seemed fine, 15 stake on 1.85 back, 14.84 stake on 1.92 lay, 5% commission, £14.09 profit, however im down around 90p when comparing the bookies and betfair, i cant understand whats happened here my mind is numb, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Hi @cosmic.

I’ve not seen the terms of your £1 free bet, but Coral free bets are usually stake not returned.

So, once you won £15 on the horses, you should have been able to withdraw that as cash.

If your subsequent bet won, your £15 stake at odds of 1.85 would have generated a profit of £12.75 at Coral and you would have lost £13.65 at Betfair, leaving you with an overall loss of £0.90.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply matt, yeah i think because i won the 15 from a free bet, i looked at the 15 as another free bet instead of my actual money, thankfully only 90p down, thanks for your help mate, cheers.

    No problem @cosmic.

With free bets, you usually have to select them on the betslip when you place your bet.

If you just enter an amount and place it, that will usually be taken from your cash balance.
