I contacted EnergyBet about this and they advised that only selected users are asked to verify their accounts before depositing and the verification process can take up to 24 hours.

Ah that’s good to hear.

They did also say that if you hadn’t managed to get the bet on, you would qualify for their Tottenham v Liverpool boost which is due to go live sometime soon.
