Exchange wars ( hopefully)

  • Betdaq are now 2% commission across the board , this could prove difficult for smarkets and giving that the likes of matchbook are doing 0% offers it may nudge them and more importantly betfair in the direction of reduced rates ( although betfair are to big and greedy I doubt they will be bothered ).
Hopefully a push in the right direction of things to come

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

It’s been shown a couple times recently Betfair are the market, their 2 down times probably highlighted why they charge 5% rather than people going elsewhere

Will smarkets worry about betdaq matching them and a temporary matchbook offer? Even with 0% i must lay less than half my money through them

    But I like the optimism:-)

Feedback I gave after Betfair offer was a lower rate for layers, incorporating their volume/backbet limits from the oddsmonkey offer

Have a look at smarkets this morning compared to betfair. All the FA cup games and most of the big races today have more traded with them currently than betfair. If smarkets can run reliably I have a feeling that they may be overtaking betfair exchange in the near future.

I do still prefer Smarkets by quite a bit, in spite of its flaws. One thing that certainly helps is that its an exchange only, and not a normal bookmaker. Plus the fact it has no ties to any bookmakers. The only other one that does that is Matchbook, I think? But Matchbook has terrible UX, and confusing commission.

Plus the fact you cant live chat at any time so easily is great.

Stability and reliability is hopefully what they will focus on from now. They still don’t seem to have finished their “new” API, so hopefully that is happening too.

Agreed, only use Betfair if laying off boosted accas

Reliability is the key. You would think with the money they are ploughing into race day sponsorship that they will have also spent a bit on increasing their site’s robustness

Smarkets has greatly improved in recent months (just need to fix the stupid logging out on the app) and the only time I would use Betfair is to rescue ew bets ruined by non runners but even then I tend to let them run. 5% commission is just too much.

Or you could just use smarkets and get 2% commission there?

You could but for those trying to hit the Chelt Cash Race targets this helps

There’s no real benefit to using Betfair for the premier league as liquidity is fine on smarkets on all big games (and most others too). It’s only worth it to try and hit their cash race targets for no extra cost.

If the promo extended to all premier league markets it would be a little more worthwhile e.g correct score, over/under, first goal scorer etc but the match odds markets are already the same on smarkets anyway.

How about just do the OddsMonkey Smarkets 0% commission deal? If you aren’t doing it, you’re just throwing your money away really..
