I placed a £25 free bet on a horse of 5 odds. Returns said originally 125 as you would expect but got paid 162.5 plus my 25 free stake back.
I do not understand how 162.5 worked out. The horse one and bet was to win

Was it El Bandit by any chance? Looking at racing post results he won at starting price of 13/2.
Most bookies will give you best odds guaranteed which means if his SP is bigger than the price you took then they pay out at the bigger price.
