Forum Revamp???

  • Hi guys,

I’ve noticed that there are a lot of price boosts/enhanced odds getting posted in the New Offers forum, which is fine. Just wondering whether you guys would find it beneficial to have a separate Price Boosts forum and keep the New Offers forum strictly for offers?

Whilst we’re on the subject of tidying up the forum, if there are any other forums that you think may be beneficial, post and discuss them here and we can try them out.

Also, I’m aware that the forum is in need of moderation and I’m planning on revising the rules, but if you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

    Cheers guys!

    Matt

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Hi Matt

A Price Boosts section would be great and perhaps one dedicated entirely to Horse Racing?

Moderation probably needed, perhaps you can hire some moderators and give them appropriate editing etc rights.

Oh and the ability to delete a post would be great 🙂

A Horse Racing section would be perfect. It also wouldn’t hurt to have a section dedicated to Casino Offers. Some members have won some nice chunks of change on casino offers. I would like to be a moderator.

Ill go against the tide and say im happy theyre all in one place. Id probably miss stuff if there were half a dozen forums

Good shout Matt definitely Price Boost separate would be good.

It would also be good if you could restress to new MBs of the importance of reading offers/ t and cs etc before they commit to a new bookie offer. Some of the recent questions etc on offers have been concerning from newbies.

Great forum though Matt – well done .

Have to say, I like forums fairly simple, don’t think there should be too many sub forums

maybe something along the lines of the following forums

    Strategies /announcements/forum rules
    Help/advice forum
    Blogged offer discussion
    Daily boosts/offers/tips discussion

I kind of agree with Pickle – but think half a dozen is managable – wouldn’t want to see a separate forum for each sport.

Maybe a Newbie forum where newbies can answer their own questions -with a sticky post with some links to the best new users sign up offers to start with and a walk through guide (eg Skybet bet 5 get 20). The amount of newbies starting off with a high rollover sign up offer is alarming.

The “New Offers” forum rename to “Offers”, most of the posts there already relate to ongoing offers or continuous offers!

Maybe an extra forum for gambling that’s not strictly about matched betting – discuss other strategies, or value.

Anyway, that’s just my little suggestions, I wouldn’t change much to be honest, I have no problem finding the stuff that interests me and skipping over the threads that don’t.

One more thing, I think that this point needs to be made in the rules:

“This is complicated, and posts by themselves should never be relied on. I agree to do my own research, independently check, double and triple check every detail and take every precaution to ensure a matched betting offer I take up is appropriate for me and risk-free.”

I was panicking there yesterday after posting about the Coral offer and then suddenly nobody was getting their free bets – felt that I missed something in the terms and conditions and lead every one astray! I think its important for every one to read the terms and conditions for themselves so that they have only themselves to blame and don’t blame the original poster if something screws up.

I like it as it is but adding a couple more wouldn’t hurt, perhaps for the price boosts and casino (as this is a bit more niche). Just not too many that it’s harder to spot the latest offers!

Price boosts as a separate thing would be great. But I wouldn’t want anything more than that really.

I agree that a section on casino/slots offers would be great

A sticky for new users titled ‘getting started – new matched bettors go here!’ Or something along those lines.

One other thing would be great – a live chat room linked to the site. I’ve seen several other forums use them but for a forum like this it’d be quote handy for snappy replies and chats during live in plays, horse odds as the like as they tend to shift. Plus it might save some forum pages getting clogged with unrelated chats.

I am with pickle here, quite happy with everything in one place at the moment.
I personally don’t like a too many sub-forums like the one on MSE. I find it very difficult to use.

Moderators would be good. While I do like all the offers in one place, this section can definitely benefit from less random question threads posted by newbies…

Hey Matt, you put this in the wrong forum!!! lol

I would like to just add two – One for price boosts/enhanced offers, and one for newbies. I think especially the newb one would be useful because a lot of the common questions will soon have their own thread and if it becomes a particularly good discussion/tutorial it could be made into a sticky.

I would also add a link to the newbie thread into each offer Matt blogs about. Hopefully that would point a few to the right place! lol

Other than that I think the forum is excellent as it is. I guess a moderator or two, but actually, this place seems to police itself quite well compared to other forums.

A quick thought, it would be handy to be able to edit the first post of a thread at any time if you are the OP.

The sections are fine as it is, a daily thread for horses seems sufficient. The site/forums are quite slow to load so having to click through to multiple sections would be painful.

Providing people are clear in the topic title and general format as to the nature of the offer it’s easy enough to skim through. I want to know the what/where/when and any tips/hints (e.g. for racing offers, number of runners and whether there’s a clear fav perhaps).

FoG’s disclaimer for “newbies” seems spot on, and perhaps something on the general ethos of the forums i.e. if people want to be spoon fed then they can go pay PA or similar for that service.
