Fred/Tote – Liverpool v Chelsea – Either Team to win & BTTS

  • (1) Either team to win and both teams to score is boosted to 3.5 at Fred and Tote.

These kind of “either to win & btts” offers can be dutched, provided you can get the right odds on the other outcomes.

The way I do this is to look to place two more BACK bets as follows:
    (2) BACK the ‘Draw/Yes’ (i.e. score draw) option in the Match Result & BTTS market on Betfair Exch (or another bookie if you can get sufficiently good odds)
    (3) BACK the ‘BTTS – No’ option in the BTTS market on Smarkets (or another bookie if you can get sufficiently good odds)

It works just like any other dutch bet in that you can weight it in favour of your preferred/fancied outcome, or you can just guarantee the same profit regardless.

I built my own calculator to quickly establish if there is any profit in these offers when they come up, which there is in this one if you bet as follows:

    Fred/Tote – £100 on (1) @3.5
    BetVictor/Betstars – £77.78 on (2) @4.5
    Smarkets – £162.04 on (3) at 2.18

This gives an outlay of £339.81 and a guaranteed profit (after any commission if using an exchange) of £10.19

Now clearly that is not megabucks, but it is effectively a 10% arb which I believe is considered a “good” return on any arb. Obviously it is also scalable and the potential profit figure can be manipulated by weighting in favour of a preferred/fancied outcome. Consider too that if you can get £100 on at both Fred and Tote then you are looking at twice the profit (maybe x4 if you have multi accounts)

You can use the 3 way dutch calculator over at trickybet to test the maths and check how the profitability might change as the prices on (2) and (3) move during the day.

    Things to consider:
    – As Matt often points out, a stake like £77.78 will look fishy as hell to a bookie, so consider using round numbers if you are using a bookie for either (2) or (3). If you are using an exchange then weird stakes are fine.

    – You could look to LAY both teams to score instead of (3) if it is more profitable, but beware that the dutching calculator at trickybet will not work out the lay stake for you as it assumes all bets are in a dutch bet are BACK bets.

    – These offers seems to be unique to Fred and Tote. Although you often get them on “smaller” games then tend to be more exploitable on “bigger” games like the Liverpool v Chelsea game tonight due to increased liquidity across all markets.

Sorry for such a long post, I am sure many of you already look at these offers and know how to take advantage, but I just thought that some might find this useful.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Good post Tony think you have covered everything there.

Just to add bwin are 4.75 on the btts draw. Combined with fred/tote you are getting odds of 2.02 on btts which is quite a bit above the market currently at 1.86.

Not adding any technical value here but I’d recommend doing as above as I think this bet will lose
They did same offer on Friday nights cup game and I let that run to lay in the game at better odds, tonight’s could run a while without a goal…. watch Chelsea score faster than wolves on sat now

@Lucida Cheers, bwin don’t appear on oddschecker (and I don’t have an account with them) but good to know there is more value elsewhere. That would give you £14.28 profit per £100 staked so it just shows how a small change in the odds can improve the bottom line considerably

    @betman
Agree that tonight’s game will likely be goalless after 20-25 mins, so yeah you could wait on but I just wanted to give the ‘pure’ MB theory above

This offer is also available in shop if you prefer not to arouse suspicions by betting the full £100 online. Also, oddschecker has a nice hutching calculator so you can play with your rounded stakes.

I’m limited to 25 on BF/Tote, but managed to extract over 8 quid here. Nice one mate.

Betfair sportsbook is 2.2 for BTTS No, Bwin is 4.75 for Draw & BTTS. Worked out well!

For my comments about following Tony and not being clever I got lucky by being dumb
Was reviewing my smarkets positions at half time and spotted the wrong number red, I’m clearly too lay happy on there. Swapped it round at a nice gain though

I won at Bwin, which is great, because I hate them and I’ll never use them for offers anyway now. Lovely.

Thanks for flagging this up Tony, and especially for taking the time to walk through it. This was my first experience with these kinds of bets and I was pretty cautious, but came away with just over £15 in profit!

Out of interest how often do these kind of offers become available, and where do you find out about them? I’ve been on and off match betting for a year or so now, but looking to get more serious about it this coming year. This seems like a pretty decent addition to my current knowledge!

    Cheers for all the help!

    No worries :)

This is on again tonight on the Huddersfield v Brighton game, although it’s not particularly profitable based on current odds. Ideally need the ‘BTTS – No’ odds to go from 1.9 to 2.0, at which point it would be worthwhile (14%), but doubt thats gonna happen now unfortunately :(

Tony,I just did a quick trickybet 3 way dutch calculation on tonight’s game,if i’ve got it right? £100 on the fred offer at 4-£84.21 on the draw and BTTS at 888sport at 4.75 odds. And then BTTS no on Smarkets at 1.95 a stake of £205.13 would return a profit of £10.66 approx.
Too late to do it now anyway but,Just wondered if that was correct, cheers.

@biscuit nearly, but you need to make sure you take account of commission at smarkets, so a back price of 1.95 is actually equivalent to a back price of 1.931 once commission is considered. Dutching these with the bookies is better if you can, although sometimes more can be made by dutching the correct score draws on smarkets. Just play around with dutching/hutching calculator until you find the best combo.
