He won’t lay to lose 200 now you’ve posted this….. last time someone posted about him on a matched betting forum he went to the press in a strop about matched betting!!

Read this bit of his website: https://www.geoff-banks.com/blog.asp

What an absolute tool. Whinging about arbers because he’s not happy ripping off mugs. Don’t offer those odds then if you don’t want people to take them. His website looks like it was created by a 12 year old in an IT lesson.

I enjoy reading his blog posts and think he makes some valid points if you cut through a lot of whinging – we have no right to the offers / best odds / value but at the same time, companies like bet365 shouldnt be allowed to advertise promotions or odds which they restrict such a high % of customers

…back on topic, what do you mean 6 place Fog? On the big handicaps?

given his adversity to BF / arbers, it will be pretty hard for any of us to bet consistently with him for the festival if we only take odds ~2% less than the exchange

Um. Last time I checked you didn’t need a licence to lay a bet on betfair!

Anyway, the way that I see it is that it is a game between the bookies and the punter. The bookie will use whatever tools that he wants to get his edge and the punter should too. I don’t see anything wrong with running algorithms, or comparing prices across bookies and exchanges to find your bets. Well that’s what the bookie does to set their price. They have more info, access to more tools etc. To me that is a fair playing field. Well not quite fair, most of the advantages are still with the bookie as in they set their prices and have more access to better servers, computer power, experts, traders etc etc.

And to have a go at arbers laying prices on the exchange is a bit rich. I am sure he hedges his bets on the the exchange to the manage liabilities. And the price that we offer on the exchange when we lay a bet is at least fair, never mind Geoff laying a horse at 7/2 when he is available to back at the exchange at 5.5.

I completely understand the right to refuse custom etc. And we are bad for his business – that I can understand. But he crosses the line when he posts veiled threats about suing people for 50K, and labels us unlicenced, anonymous, disrespectful, dishonset, idiots. I think that is crossing the line.

I guess the guarantee isnt really a guarantee.

And as for his ghost accounts, if his KYC checks are failing then *he* should not have a licence. Then he can put his underpants on and sit on betfair/betangel scanning for arbs too.

Enigma. The 6 places were in an email he sent out. Will wait and see which races he offers them for.

Yes sure we have no right to expect offers etc. And there is ALOT of whinging to have to see through to get his point. But if he doesnt want to offer offers then dont, offer a better service in some other way and make that your standard. Dont offer offers and then moan about it when ppl take up the offers!

Absolute joke of a bookie. Restricted me to SP only after a couple of bets. Will try and get a few new accounts for Cheltenham

I agree with enigma he does have a lot valid points beneath his whinging

Also have sympathy for his multi accounting view, although is an area i have mixed opinions on. We all know on here about betting as a proxy and kyc doesn’t weed much that out. Think it was geoffs customer service team who said a customer had accidentally sent them an excel file of dozens login details for bookie accounts

Anyway 1/4 the odds is great. 6 places will be the coral cup or whatever it’s called now, but looks like pay a fair bit extra places. Mares hurdle is 4 at moment, maybe he knows more than me about likely final field size but that seems good

betman, Enigma, you guys are making fair and balanced points. But I really dont see Geoff making those same points at all. I think on the multi-account thing that he was ticking along with about 10 new customers per day and then he put a generous welcome offer and new registrations spiked to 200 or so. Think of how many ppl read it on oddsmonkey, think about how many ppl read it here. It’s not hard to imagine that it reached hundreds of individuals. I am sure that some multiaccounted it, but majority were probably genuine ppl like me and you. Getting that Excel sheet over live chat was probably a bit of a kick in the teeth, but hold on before you accuse us all of multi accounting.

He paints a picture of Rob as a dishonest, disrespectful idiot and there are implications that all arbers/traders are just the same – parasites on his firm. He doesn’t make the point that we shouldnt expect offers, he doesnt make the point about b365, he doesnt make a balanced the point about multi accounting …. all his points are to paint us as lazy parasites.

I dont use oddsmonkey, I dont use betangel, I dont use any fancy expensive tools beyond oddschecker. I often don’t even lay my bets on the exchange when I believe its a genuine value bet. Its a game to me and I think I and most of us here play it fairly. I am not professional. I think the advantage are all with the bookies, and I think the unfair treatment is all with the bookies too. It is not just professionals that they gub/restrict and it is not just multi accounts either.
