New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

so back and lay same as the horses offer and hope to get your player to finish 6,7 or 8th?
+0@Dave_Jones, Thanks for doing the leg work on these offers. I planned to do the same thing myself at some point today.
@swindonraf, I’ve not done these offers on the golf before, and I would assume it’s the same, but I think the t&c’s regarding how the payouts are calculated in the event of players finishing with the same score need to be investigated.+0No real leg work required Mooncat, I just copied them from another site. I checked a few and they were accurate so I assume they all are. Its obviously up to the individual doing any of these bets to ensure the offers are as I have posted.
+0Betmclean too £50 back if 2nd or 3rd.
Posted on the other section but mentioning here in case.
D Johnson is 11/10.5
A Scott is 26/24So there is two shots at 50 free for a qualifying profit.
Drawback is you need big balance in the exchange but will only need to cover biggest liability which is still quite big.
You can do e/w with them too as McLean has 1/4 6 places
+0Hi
This will be my first time doing one of these extra place bets so just wanted someone to check out my calculations to make sure I don’t make a mistake.
So I’m looking at SkyBet who are offering 7 places. I want to place a £10 each way bet on Dustin Johnson who (at the time of writing) has odds of 10 for the bet marked Outright Winner – Paying 7 Places. On smarket the lay odds are 10.5 for the win and 3.4 for the Top Five Finish.
So I have read the guide correctly I will place £10 e/w on SkyBet and place a lay on smarkets for £9.54 for the win and a lay bet of £9.62 for the place.
So the outcomes would be:
Dustin Johnston wins (bookie, exchange, bookie, exchange, cashback, total)
+ £90.00 – £90.63 + £22.50 – £23.09 = £-1.22
Dustin Johnston places in 1 – 5 place
– £10.00 + £9.35 + £22.50 – £23.09 = £-1.24
Dustin Johnston places in 6 or 7 place
– £10.00 + £9.35 + £22.50 + £9.43 = £31.28
Dustin Johnston places 8 or greater
– £10.00 + £9.35 – £10.00 + £9.43 = £-1.22So a loss of £1.24 with a chance of £31.28
Does this look right?
+0Yes you have that perfectly right.
+0Bear in mind that.the quite likely deadheats for places would cut any profits down to peanuts

Yes ties are something to consider.
Last year there were 4 tied in 6th place. So in that scenario if your D. Johnson bet ended tied 6th with 4 others you would still win your exchange bet but the bookie (Sky) paying out two extra places (6,7) but not 4 places (4 tied on 6th). So have to share those payouts among the four 6ths, so you would get half on your e/w place bet. So that works against you – you hit the extra place but haven’t hit the full payout you expected.
So cloudcoconut would be getting £11.25 less for £20.03 profit in that scenario (4 tied in 6th).
Then say there is a three way tie on 5th you will only have to pay out one third of you lay bet on the place, but the bookie paying 5,6,7 will pay you full. So can work in your favour too. You didnt hit the extra place but make a little profit anyway.
So cloudcoconut would be getting £16.10 profit in that scenario (3 tied in 5th).
It’s not peanuts really, but it probably reduces the value of the offer.
+0Thanks for the confirmation that I had my maths right. Not being the least bit interested in golf I had not considered the dead heat situations so googled it . Fog_BLog illustrates it well. So I have a opportunity to make some money (up to the maximum the maths provides) but have it reduced by the likelihood of real world ties against the probability of losing just over a pound (if I pick my odds right).
Anyone have any suggestions for a likely pick?
+0No suggestions from me, just try to find the best odds available including the lay odds. I’ve had a glance at a few and as usual Sky Bet odds are crippingly poor so I’ll give them a miss.
Also the extra place calculator makes it easy to get your head around all of this https://www.antodev.com/extraplace/
+0Also be sure to check T&C’s for information on eligibility. If you’re gubbed at Betfair for example, you’re not eligible for the extra place offer.
+0I only had time for a quick look yesterday cloudcoconut, but couldn’t see anything worth doing (was hoping for at worst B/E bets). I might look later today, and probably lower my expectations and perhaps take a small qualifying loss, as you have done.
I was hoping things might have been similar to the E/W bets on the horses, ie. loose a bit on the win part but make a bit on the place part. What I found though (only looked at smarkets) was that I was often loosing more on the place part of the bet than I was on the win part. I will probably look at betfair today to see if their place odds are any better.
+0I like Rickie Fowler on Boylesport he is 34.0/40.0 to win and 9.25/9.0 (arb) to place, with an extra place (1,2,3,4,5,6) at Boyle. Its a £3 QL on a 2x£20 (e/w) bet but you could hit 180 if he is 6th on his own. Also £2 free bet for every bogey in Round 1 and 2 (I don’t know how likely a bogey is really, but the winner last year hit 2 bogeys on his last round, I couldn’t find a scorecard to see how many for R1 and R2 or an overall average, but I don’t really expect Fowler to be the best scorecard of the day so if he hits 2 or 3 bogeys each day then that is £8 to £12 in free bets which should easily cover your QL). Plus, money back as a free bet (on the win part) if he finishes 2nd or 3rd including ties.
I got a good price on Adam Scott (26.0) on Sky on Monday.
I had a wagering requirement on BetVictor so just did a few there to unlock some bonus funds, they had good price on Grace (34.0), Day (10.0) and Mickelson (45.0).
BetMcLean has a better price on Day (11.0) and also have a good price on Dustin Johnson (11.0) and Spieth (13.0). I am having trouble depositing funds though! They are also giving money back as a free bet for 2nd or 3rd. And £25 matched bet sign up bonus for Irish customers.
Also Stan James have a bet 20 in play on day 1 get 5 free. Their prices aren’t great but they have enhanced win only prices which at the moment is showing 10.5 for Dustin Johnson which is also 10.5 at the exchange, so not bad QL for a free 5. Don’t know if it will still be that way when they go in-play – so keeping an eye on that.
Anyone else got any tips?
+0Having now scanned all the bookies I can possibly get on this offer with, its apparent that yesterday was the day to get on this. Its going to be really difficult as it is to hit an extra place on these offers but with back and lay odds seemingly so far apart including the place lay odds, I am leaning towards giving it a miss.
Incredibly risky but you could hold off laying the place on your player until after the first cut tonight.
+0Yes, you need to be able to cover 3 or 4 to have any decent chance.
You can combine it with other offers though, for example Boyle with money back 2nd or 3rd and free bets for Bogeys to give a few extra chances at hitting a profit.
Right now you can get a 66p QL on Dustin Johnson on BetMcLean (11.0/10.5 to win 3.5/3.6 to place). And £50 back if he is 2nd or 3rd and the big extra place payout of £174 if he is 6th on his own. Probably a nice pay (£50+?) if he is tied 6th or tied 5th too. You would need a big exchange though. Which I don’t have any more – took some profits out for my holidays!
There is still money to be made on match betting.
