Gubbed by Betway after 12 hours of account opening :-(

Hi All,

Love this blog and all the great tips!

I am still new to this I opened a Betway account yesterday and got the 50 free bet – great. I backed Melon to win and of course should of received the bet back as he did not win. I have come to check today only to find the account has been locked. I had to speak to the agent on live chat to ascertain this as they did not notify me.

Gutted 🙁 anything I should avoid doing in future? Are they just generally bad for MB? I have a few other accounts ticking along fine….

Has your account been locked, restricted or are you no longer eligible to take part in promotions? You may have had your account locked pending ID verification – happens a lot.

No, locked. The live chat agent said it was a senior management decision and nothing could be done?? Very strange, they’ve taken my £50 bet but then not paid out on the 2 x £50 free bets they owed me 🙁 meh!

Same thing happened to me Buffy. Except I never even placed a bet. Spoke with an agent on Live Chat who said that it was a management decision and that they don’t have to share the reasons why they locked my account.

I reckon opening an account at the same time as Cheltenham with £50 in free bets could have prompted them to lock it.

Other than that, no idea.

I did the sign up where you get £50 bonus funds, I signed up just before Cheltenham.

I placed three bets at Cheltenham (all three lost) and then they stopped taking my bets.

Oh well I thought, I’ll lose the bonus and take my remaining cash out. I tried to withdraw and got a message saying that if I want to make a withdrawal it will cancel my bonus and, if I want to do that I have to contact customer services (sigh)..

So I contacted customer service and asked to withdraw the cash… I was “helpfully” informed that I would lose my bonus and winnings to date (£0), which I said was fine.

Then I was told that the amount I could withdraw was actually c£50 lower than my cash balance because (paraphrasing), “they had to take into account the fact that my balance would have been higher had my bets won”….

Haven’t decided what to do next yet……. Contemplating changing my name by deed poll to Betway Can Suck My Testis and then applying for a job there..

In summary – absolute joke of a bookie!!!
