Gubbed by Ladbrokes, but…
-
Been doing this MBing thing for a little under 2 months and just lost my first account – Ladbrokes. It seems quick, but not a huge surprise really as I only used them for their welcome offer and a few stabs at the Money Back 2nds. Enough of my qualifying bets won for me to take about £100 off them and got 3 free £25 bets not including the welcome offer. Glad I withdrew when I did. 3 of my last 4 bets won and the other was voided on THAT day at Doncaster.
My question is, do Ladbrokes (and/or other bookies) give you the same offers like MB2s in shops and if so, do they take your details and cross reference against restricted accounts? I like on a high street filled with bookies.

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

BTW, I got the email just after reading about the enhanced treble offer. Had to laugh at the timing of that, especially after the weird “Sudanese” thing made me think it was a trap! 🙂
+0Hoops – theyve got a grid card you can use in store, has offers similar to online like mb2nd on ch4 races – i signed up in shop and got emails saying duplicate account, id required – so it can detect from your details if youre registered online, even if you request it not to be linked to your online account. So I would expect any restrictions online will also apply on the grid.
+0Ah crap, so you have to sign up. You can’t just stick a bet on anonymously? Ah well, thanks anyway Gman.
+0When I went to the shop yesterday and asked about grid card they said I had no restrictions?surely it would show up in store if my cards linked to my online account with restrictions?i really need to start doing it in shop as I have lost laddies/hills
+0Not sure Jdubu but the guy couldnt deposit money on to it for me. Then I got all the duplicate account emails. Though I did get a free bet for cheltenham, the guy just printed off the token.
+0Oh ok gman thanks. Not sure what to do then if I am restricted as I was planing on smashing the mb 2nds/accas in store!do you know if it’s the same with will hill or paddy?do they have the same offers as online?do you need a stupid loyalty card for them?
+0Just sign up without linking it to your online account. They asked if I wanted to but just said I didn’t have one 😉
+0Get regular offer updates, tip and tricks, big offer alerts and more straight to your inbox.
Yeah?and then do you still get all the offers for horses money back 2nd and accas?
I’m pretty sure the acca offer is only for grid members?+0Of course. If the acca offer is only for Grid members, and you have a Grid card (even not linked to online account) then it’s all good.
Unsure about the email address thing above, but it only takes 2 seconds to set up a new GMail account.
+0thank you
+0Wait, does this mean I can pop into the Laddies down the road, sign up for this grid card thing, not link it to my online account and I’m back in the game?
Happy days!+0… only used them for welcome offer and MB 2nds…??? Come on Hoops lad you’ve to make more of an effort than that to keep an account going.
I’ve got the grid and a laddies account.
you can also use the grid off your phone, it doesn’t have to use the ladbrokes app, you can log in through a browser on your phone and avail of the offers that way. Very handy for the busy Saturday afternoons+0How do you keep your accounts going then, Dan87? What is your ratio of mug bets to offers?
I know you’re right, but the gubbings seem to be coming thick and fast even for those who mug bet regularly, so I’m taking the ‘make hay while the sun shines’ approach 🙂+0I’m a hardcore preacher of mug betting mate, mainly because I’ve managed to keep a lot of accounts unrestricted in both my own and the wife’s account.
There’s an art to mug betting too though. A lot of folk try to mug in the same way they do with finding a tight qualifying bet for an offer.
If you’re finding value in your mug bets too then they’re not exactly mug bets. I’ve read 3/4 good articles on how the books monitor accounts and mug betting in recent months which explained a lot, you could google them maybe if interested.
There might be a random aspect to gubbings too but I’ve hammered things too much on both mine and wife’s accounts to believe I’ve randomly been lucky time after time to slip under the radar.
+0Thanks Dan. Maybe my wife will be more careful with her account 😉
