Gubbed by William Hill

Got the dreaded email below from William Hill yesterday afternoon
Dear****,
Following a review of your account, we regret to inform you that you are no longer eligible for any William Hill Online Sports and Racing offers. This means you will no longer receive football promotions such as Acca Insurance, Scorer 2nd Chance and Bore Draw, as well as Best Odds Guaranteed and Money Back 2nd for Horse and Greyhound racing.
This is in line with the terms and conditions applicable to each promotional offer.
Except as stated above, your William Hill account will continue to operate as normal and you shall remain eligible for all other William Hill promotional offers.
Kind regards,
The William Hill TeamHad this account for 15+ years and used it mainly for horse racing betting. Only started matched betting this year and haven’t massively over abused the money back 2nd offers as I’m a tight get and will only place a bet if I can get an arb for a qualifying loss on smarkets. I would say I have won on average one £25 free bet per week.
I’ve had over £2k winnings on William Hill this year obviously losing this to smarkets.
Is it this they do not like? (although they haven’t closed my account or restricted my bet amounts ). Do they not like me taking the prices they are offering when they are clearly the best price and bigger than the lay price on the exchanges (again no restriction yet)?Having matched bet this year I’m not sure I will ever bet on horse racing again without laying off. I’ve noticed a horse rarely wins if the exchange price is bigger than the bookie price (unless being shoved out by people trying to lay it for the various offers) and a great way to win money on the horses is to write down William Hills odds 30 mins before the off time and if you can get still get an arb before the off time then that horse has a massive chance of winning.
I had a weird incident with William Hill yesterday morning before the gubbing. They went 9 about Keystroke in the 14.15 Doncaster when there was 1000s to lay at 8.4. I clearly fell for it and tried to put my £25 on but it came up offering me £5 AT at 9 and £20 at 8 which i obviously knocked back. This is the first time in 15+ years that William Hill have never taken a bet from me at the offered odds. Was this matched bettor bait? Would a mug punter have taken the price they re offered?
This is one bookie I didn’t want to lose for their offers as they consistently offer best prices compared to other bookies. No more free bets for me at WH although I will still use them for taking early prices and then laying off later as the best odds guarantee is virtually useless for what I’m doing as the SP is 99% of the time less than the price I took.
All in all can’t really advise how to avoid a gubbing apart from not taking the best prices they offer which kind of makes it pointless. If you are doing the money back 2nds on William Hill with any regularity then it looks like they will gubb you at some point. Sounds like some of you on here do every single race WH do an offer on and if you do I’m amazed if you aren’t gubbed.
Anyway big rambling rant over feeling aggrieved and might pack this all in as it gets time consuming and can rule your life. Here’s my list of gubbings
William Hill (no free bet offers)
Skybet (no free bet offers – gubbed after winning 2 free bets in a row on MB 2nd or 3rd races)
Betvictor (restricted after taking prices they were biggest on in a race)
Boylesports (restricted after taking prices they were biggest on in a race)
Sportingbet (ridiculously low amount I can have on an horse)
Betway (gubbed after doing the bet £10 on 3 C4 races get £10 offer 2 saturdays running)
Betfair Sportsbook (restricted on the amount I can bet on any horse they have a decent price on)Make hay while you can guys they’ll catch you in the end 🙂
